Well with Comic-Con just around the corner & Bioware being there & saying that they'll have some announcements to make (21st July), lets hope it's about a release date & not "oooo look at our new UI" or something. :D

It'll be released this year almost certainly. Firstly, the christmas market, and secondly the shut down of SWG. Since they're killing it off it makes sense to offer them something to jump ship to immediately.
 
It will get a split if it releases this year going by CaptainRAVE's views on it, which i agree with. You'll get people who don't know a thing or two about MMO's saying it's awesome, the SWG lot who immediately hated on TOR because of the closure of SWG saying it's rubbish without even properly playing it, and you'll get the other half who know a thing or two about MMO's basically discussing what is good about it and what isn't, being fair.

I'm going to observe it for a month or so to see how Bioware do with patching and customer support, and then i'll make a decision on whether it's worth it or not, it also depends on how much they will be charging too. I also hope they don't ban people for negative comments towards it as well, like they did with Dragon Age 2.

In some of the videos the lightsabers look good, they look like they do from the films, but in some of the videos I watched recently they look rubbish...like I watched a video yesterday on betacake and someone started off as some kind of jedi padiwan and it looked like they had more of a tazer/stick type of weapon which is ok if thats what it is, you start off with a tazer and then at level 10 someone says "well done, you've not proved yourself as a jedi and gives you your first lightsaver"...but if thats a lightsaber from the start and you get crystals for it later to turn it into a proper lightsaber then it just looks stupid...

Maybe captain or some other beta tester can explain this detail to me and everyone else?

...I just want the lightsabers to look like they do in the films, you pull the handle off your belt and press a button and the lightsaber beam comes out...and makes that noise, and looks amazing!!!

Reminds me of the saber blades and stances mod i tweaked for Jedi Academy, managed to get Episode 2 & 3 stances which were:

-Overhead stance where Anakin faces Dooku in Episode 2.
-The stance in Episode 3 when Obi Wan jumps down to face Grievous.
-Sidious' stance when he fights Yoda in Episode 3, with the saber pointing down.

I also managed to get the blades just right for my tastes as well, i was well chuffed with it. Basically, i hope you have the ability to add mods to the game like you could with SWG if things don't look great from your perspective.
