*****Official Star Wars: The Old Republic Thread*****

Well with any luck when the open beta comes out people can just download that, and then come release day patch to the retail version.

So £39.99 is the cheapest at the moment, with the early-access from yalP or nozamA.

Christ. I'll save myself £13 & order it from looC pohS then & wait, even if I don't get access.

Seems like a bit of a lottery. Are the sales team behind the 2012 Olympics doing this pre-order too. :D

CaptainRAVE couldn't resist the game, even after all he said about how it isn't ready he is one of the first to pre-order :p

Hehe I am sticking to my guns and waiting for 3 months after release before I decide if I am buying it or not. Want to see whether people are still enjoying it once the hype has run out. I'd be bloody furious if I stumped up £130 and then decided after a week that I dont like it, hell I'd even be somewhat annoyed if I stumped up £39.99 and then decided after a week I dont like it. I'll play it safe and wait and see whats what after 3 months. :)

Cancelled my CE on Game, went up to Oxford street(what a nightmare ) and bought the CE at the counter. I can now activate my code. I'm not waiting a week, you get early access depending when you enter your code.

If you add all the extra costs it works out about £10 quid cheaper, not a masssive saving!

Stupidly high price nonetheless.

Why the hell would I want to pay so much for a game.

I understand they've put a lot of money into marketing and **** but seriously, £130 for the Collector's Edition and £40 for the standard edition of a subscription only game is a bit steep.

And by a bit I mean I was willing to pay half the price.

That's EA Sales team at their finest.

Don't blame you tbh - watch this space. I haven't got many other games to play or wait for, so figure I will take the risk.

I think the point is, even with exchange rates, we are getting taken for a ride.

The only good thing about the CE edition is the ingame collectors store - however, still not worth the price.

Yeah , if it wasnt for the potential of a Guild Wars 2 beta (which is looking quite likely for me ;) ), or a Secret World beta, or Diablo 3, or the imminent arrival of Heroes of Might and Magic 6 , I might be more inclined to take the risk. But I've just got stacks coming so no reason to take the plunge for me now :)

Ordered from play.com, received confirmation of my order but didn't get a code. So called them up and spent 15 minutes talking to them explaining that I should have received a code. Got told they don't have the codes yet and the code will be sent to me once they get them.
Cancelled the order from play.com and re-ordered via Amazon.co.uk Instantly got my code from Amazon the moment I submitted the order, and have already entered it in on the website :D Should be a fun game, just don't expect it to be a huge step forward from WoW. From what I've seen, its WoW with a Star Wars skin, music and story.

I have been waiting a long time for this game! I think £130 is money well spent! It's only a couple of nights of not drinking!:D
