*****Official Star Wars: The Old Republic Thread*****

Use the "Tor Stats" site to gauge how popular a server is - not 100% accurate data, but certainly a good indicator.

If your only character is Level 23 then certainly consider moving. I'm on the highest population EU RP server (The Progenitor (You don't have to do RP to be on the server, the RP tag does seem to put-off some of the less desirables))

To give you an indication, I regularly see 120+ on the Rubpublic Fleet, that is Republic and like all servers Empire is more popular.
When I moved to this server a few weeks ago I created a Sage and found 50 people on Tython. My first visit to Coruscant there were around 45 people.

Grouping is easy, there is always people up for heroics.
Maybe it is just the difference between popular and less so servers, but if your only character is quite low it may well be worth looking into a move.

Oh and as for the "handing out of warnings" - they do it at the drop of a hat.
I recently got a warning for posting:

It sounds to me like the OP is having a problem with the quest:
"Throwing my toys out of the pram".
Not done it myself so don't know if it's bugged or not.

Hardly worth a slap on the wrist I feel.

Those numbers are still low for waht is supposed to be a MMO game !!

Fleet is the equivalent of the central gathering point / main city much like Ironforge was to WoW alliance, Jita to EvE, Jordheim to Midgard in DAoC, Coronet to corellia in SWG.

All those games I stated even at quiet non peak times had or still have hundreds of people in them at the same time. Saying 120 people in fleet is indicative of a popular server for SWTOR makes me sad, thats not busy at all

Population on Bacca's Blade has dropped significantly within the last week. My friends list is dead, and you'll be lucky to see over 30 people on the Imperial Fleet during the evening.

I think everyone is just rerolling on the busier servers, make them busier, whilst the quieter ones get even quieter :/

What a waste of hours on my main character, if I have nothing to do because I'm the only one logged in.

My subscription runs out in a couple days so I've decided not to renew. Just like some other MMOs I've played, this has a LOT of potential but now it is just in the hands of the devs to sort it out but I give up on it. I will re-subscribe for 1.2 as I really hope the devs make the right choices to get the game to where it should be, but personally I think while they are putting the effort in content wise with 1.2, they are dragging their feet with server mergers which in my opinion are essential.

I hope they raise server caps - ours is busy over 100 on Repub and ~200 on Imp on station most of the time.

Almost did SOA on Nightmare last night, got him to 4% unfortunately the 3rd phase our Tank was instantly mind trapped and we missed a pylon drop - otherwise I think we would have done him, ironically that was our first attempt after 1 shotting the other 4 bosses and only 1hour15mins in so would have got the title - luck was not on our side after though wiped about 7 times and varying points due to being chucked around and balled; boss resetting, tank mind trapping, etc...

Alas... one day!! :)

Will 1.2 be enough even to keep people. The more I look at 1.2 the more I feel its still samey. Just a few extra buffs and a little more added to the end game. I just feel that it won't ease the boredom that I feel whilst playing alts, or grinding dailies for that little extra. I don't even find the dailies rewards an incentive to keep at them.

ive just been playing on this for the past 2 hours, and it doesnt seem to do it for me. i was interested watching the youtube videos before release, but for some reason doesnt have that x factor that other games have.

Well the way I see it is that the devs are adding content, and considering they went from 1 operation (I don't count karaggas as it only had 1 boss) on release, then to 2, and now to 3 in 1.2 along with all the other stuff they are adding I consider that good progression of PvE content (could be better in places). As for the daily quests, they are adding daily quests to corellia so I would assume they would add more rewards with that too to make it worthwhile.

I see 1.2 as a good step content wise, but game management wise they are still failing, and lack of server mergers is going to be the killer IMO.

They either merge servers before 1.2 comes out or a lot of people will leave, my server is now a ghost town, Republic fleet has at most 30 people on at peak, Imp fleet manages a little more but several times this week I've been the only person on Ilum on Republic side which is shocking.

No point adding content without server mergers so people can experience it properly. They need to offer transfers to characters ASAP and then get some proper free 14 day trials on the go.

TBH, they should look at server populations Republic/sith. They should start merging but also, and crucially, balance both sides while doing it.

This, but the ever so dim fanbois (you know the ones who say 'don't play the game then'), and the Dev's who try shield from the real problems, will get around to this way way to late.

How exactly? Not going to work when there's 50% more sith across all servers now is it, they're not magic ;)

Now exp/valour/comms rewards for the less populated sides maintained on a weekly basis is an idea, but doesn't usually work.

Balancing should be by far secondary to population just cut out 2/3 rds of the servers and the game will be 100% healthier.
