*****Official Star Wars: The Old Republic Thread*****

They are pointless anyway - people will just strip out all the mods and armoring and put into crit crafted orange gear! Or at least normal orange gear to keep their "look"

The problem is though is that empire can keep the mods in the items and still look good, if republic want to look good they have no choice but to switch the mods around to different gear.

dont look great, but as others say, 1.2 is all about crit craft orange, hope there is enough variety on said orange gear. though i understand we may be able to learn schems from any of the dropped items as well

Dont get me wrong I do understand where you are coming from, I have had that problem with one of my characters so I left him alone and started on a different server. If you see my previous posts I have mentioned that a server merge is needed in some low servers.

I was just pointing out my experience with the game. I dont suffer from anything and I dont lack any understanding.

Sorry if I offended a bit, it's just you didn't really explain in that post that you understand why it's needed, but you said one isn't needed and that people are getting lazy. That's what confused me as a reader.

LFG tool, Cross server play, server merges, a visually high population was against it, up in arms, it's "for noobs!" it's lazy! it doesn't promote a community! Well, look where that got them, a lot of posts now are people having issue with population.

Ultimately it's why I quit and I'll be damned if I spend more money to play all over again on another server from the start, right from the first week until feb, I complained right here, on the forums with much protest from other people there wasn't an issue with too little people. I was right, there wasn't even enough to BEGIN with let alone continue past the second month on my server.

I haven't had this issue in over a decade in any other MMO, never.
I understand the benefits of the above systems and how they outweigh some skewed perspective of community and what actually keeps players.

Between Feb 15th when I quit (ish) and now, there's only been one republic guild on my server that are actively recuiting for raids at nightmare capacity (or HM for 1.2) on the forum.
One. :(

Thats fine, I tend to take things with a pinch of salt on forums just because people take it to how they read :) you can nver express emotion via text :)

I understand that the populations are low and they have tried this method. But I agree that they need to know when to give in to server merges and cross server play. This would make the game more playable with the amount of players they could use. But I dont think this will be in for a very long time tbh, they are being to stubborn.

I did quit around the same time as you, but that was because I played it to death and I am currently enjoying leveling up my main. Only level 36 atm so I know I have a lot to catch up to.

Regarding the end content, my guild have already left the game by the looks of it and are waiting AGAIN for the next bit MMO. I dont feel like I belong there because they just go to the next game straight away. I tend to be a slow leveler and probs will be like that for a while.

Hi all,

If I need to play bits which need groups, I'll happily team up with randoms.

Can I play the game in this way? or will I quickly find it difficult to progress?

Not really because the majority of the servers are emptier than a plague ravished village from the middle ages !!!

My experience thus far to 40 was there was virtually no one on the planets. Tatooine at best on my server had 9 people. Fleet is lucky to see 60 on a busy day. This is empire side too which is more popular than rebels, so Christ knows how the rebels are playing if their population is lower than empire

I would love some sort of LFG or matchmaking system and anything else that could be implemented to improve on the difficulty of hooking up with people instead of waiting around for a group to form. I don't care if it's akin to a system where it's holding your hand through the process as long as it would get me in a group playing a flashpoint or quest quickly and efficiently.

I get the impression that allot of hardcore players look on such features as being there just for the noobs and they are looked on with distaste. They'd rather have a complex system with difficult interfaces to work around for some strange reason i can't quite fathom.

Streamlining and simplying a gameplay interface or the experience in general is a good thing for everyone. I mean you are paying a monthly fee, how can adding features that ensure that more of your time is spent actually playing instead of sitting around waiting and doing nothing (and still paying for it) bad.

You mention promoting a community. I don't know if it's a certainly personality type thats attracted to mmo's but certainly with endgame pugs and such in tor i've found many people to be harsh, rude and generally unwelcoming to players that don't know their class/role down to the smallest detail. The only objective is to rush through flashpoints to get the gear they need. It feels more like a chore than an enjoyable experience.

Bear in mind i've played endgame WoW for several years previously (quit during Burning Crusade) so i know the sort of issues that come up in mmo's but i just feel that the whole mmo recipie in general could do with some work.

I'm sure some will disagree but hey they're valid thoughts.

Looks like ill be playing this for a month (+1)

I've decided to play a Marauder. Are they decent enough ? its either that or a Assassin Double bladed lightsabre stealth thing ?

Is either class gimped or OP at the moment ? I hate playing something that is terrible to level up but both look really fun and easy. Can either tank ok ? is stealth more important in PVP that the Marauders jumping stuff ? Both are fragile in PVP i guess as DPS classes.

I have to play something with a light sabre for my 1st character otherwise its not star wars :O

Does this game boil down to 1 button macro mashing like Rift did ?

I havent played either class, but I am a sith scorcer (lightning) I find that when questing and being on your own its rather easy to get along with. I find in PvP that I can hold my own 2. I felt the same as you for my first class. My brother on the other hand has an obsession with bounty hunters so that is what he went for first. But is currently leveling up a sith just so he can experience the way of the force lol
