your original point was the whole SQUAD is agiing - which is what I pointed out is definitely NOT the case

My point was just a throw away concise one line assessment "ageing squad, too much reliance on the old dogs". We're arguing semantics here really, but Giggs, Scholes, Neville, VDS and a crocked Rio go some way to confirm it IMO.

Im not disputing some kind of void will occur (Park may get more games, but is a squad player admittedly) unless they are replaced immediately - both are still capable of playing a fulll season, whether individual performances may not always be up to scratch

So you concede you'll be weaker then? ;)

You are entitled to your opinion - but imo he would walk into a starting central midfield position of all the premiership clubs baring probably Chelsea (and even then given Essien's injury last season, Fletcher would be a good opption ot have had - admittedly this is debatable but imo fair comment)

I can't see him starting ahead of Palacios or Modric, Fabregas or Song. But the point is I don't think he's good enough for what Man Utd expect.

After being a crucial part of the team for three years in succession and winning the title, he didnt have a great season no, but it cant just be put on his head why the team lost certain matches (people just like to have a scapegoat)

Carrick is Scholes natural successor, I'm sure he'll step it up a gear. What about Anderson?

I tried to advise but if you want to carry on being stubborn thats up to you

The EPL is about how well the SQUAD plays not just a few people , key or otherwise

Unless there has been some kind of scientific breakthrough that I'm unaware of...pretty sure they are ageing :p

I knew you wouldnt be able to resist hahaha - but I know you also realise what the original quote was meaning (rather than the specific english meaning which you are talking about) :)

You tried to what? I was merely backing up my opinion and not bowing to yours, is that stubborn if you fail to convince me? :p

Absolutely, but key players are exactly that, KEY to their clubs in how they operate on the field with the ability to raise the bar of the rest of the squad.

:p

I see one paper today is saying that man city have become the first team to break the £200,000 a week barrier. Supposedly they are paying Yaya Toure £220k a week. (total of 56million over the length of his contract)

This is the governments plan to reduce our debt. Cameron is actually out in Africa scouting players for them :p

£80k per week should help (Reality is with his accountant I probably will end up paying more tax than him :()

Other than scholes goal against city last year, precisely nothing.

Must have been someone else who screed the late winner at wolves then

Must have been some other welsh winger that laid on the pass to Owen in the 94th minute against city as well

Scholes and Giggs were very polarised when they played last year though, they were either their quality selves of old, or absolutely dire to the point of making me cry on occasions.

So the consensus says that Giggs and Scholes are still important to Utd? Well that polarisation is only going to get more skewed to the dire this season...

People have seemingly missed the point of Scholes and Giggs, their experience and erm, 'wisdom' in the dressing room is their greatest contribution to the squad.

Oh yeah obviously, but on the pitch a lot of their performances last year made Bendtner look world class.

Dont knock the "best player in the world" :p

I am sure he still scored more than berb did though and didnt cost us £30m ;)

I thought Giggs did well for half the season but scholes didnt look good enough to play at Utd anymore. I cant see them bettering their performance or even equaling it again this season.

I would like to see some proper transfers going on though now that most teams are out.

I dont know what screed means, what I do know is that between the pair of them their net contribution when added up against the complete dross the pair of them displayed most of the times they played last season is definitely showing a severe bias in the negative column.

Take away all the misplaced passes, the amount of times we were over run in midfield, Giggs stupid flicks that never found a player on the same side, the stupid free kicks and yellow cards conceded by scholes and so on ad infinitum.....

They both should have been shelved last year and if the club goes into this season fielding those pair for anything else other than a dire emergency then the season is doomed before it starts.
