There is always the argument that attack is the best defense, Barca being the standout example of this. They simply keep the ball and keep teams pegged back.

exactly my point.

in boxing, mma, the best form of defense is to attack.

whilst your are attacking the other guy cant do anything. they have to react to your moves, if they dont they will get clattered.

Only Hart and Silva were any good yesterday. Toure did well but nothing fantastic.

toure was out of position a lot, he was playing left back at one point, meaning that the left back was also out of position, the whole team was a shambles.

nobody knew their positions, they cant defend so their best hope is to attack.

Well that may be the case but you dont have 5 attacking players unless your playing West Brom or someone, at the end of the day you cant pick a team because the team will change weekly depending on who we play

only very few crosses actually get scored by a head, you know you can play a low cross right?

Name an out and out winger who does a low cross nowadays. Wingers need to be able to cut inside and play to feet. This isn't FIFA and all the time I've seen Balotelli he is big but rarely wins headers.

Biz.Kid, why are you so defensive?

It's like you cannot take any criticism whatsoever, can you not see why people would pick holes in your team?

I think considering how much money Man City have spent, they haven't got that good of a team to be honest.

They never play their best players together and various other strange things and that is why they got hammered by Spurs who played a team with no new signings? :p

Pity this isn't boxing...

the same applies to all sports,

in formula one - when schumacher used to attack other drivers by driving faster and cornering better in order to outdo them, when he was in the lead did you see him play defensive and take it easy?

playing defensive is for weak teams. man city want to be a top team, so they need to play attacking. with the strength of their attacking players they should easily outscore most.

this is what real madrid done last year, you put 2 past us we will put 5 past you mentality.

they should throw their full attacking team out and just pray hart stops all shots aimed at his goal.

Well you let me know when Adam Johnson becomes Xavi.

Barca work very hard to win the ball back when they lose it, Johnson and Silva are not nearly as good at that as Xavi and Iniesta. That is why City could not use that formation.

How dont we have a good team?...we cant sign world class players so we have to go for the players below and have to pay the extreme price....until we win a recognized cup then we cant sign the world class players bar Tevez

all of them do, they mix it up, low cross, high cross, cut back. the more variation the better. theres no point playing just high crosses up against vidic and ferdinand type defenders, both are slow on their feet, so it would be best to keep it hard and low and mix it up to confuse them.

*facepalm*

Any side needs to be able to defend. Name me ONE side at the top flight who are successful despite conceding several goals a game? It's all very well and good saying that attacking means they have to respond, but a good side will happily invite it and rape on the counter attack. The difference being in football to these other sports that you don't keep the opportunity to attack indefinitely.

its not hard to mix up and confuse Ferdinand but a lot of the time a Vidic,Terry will clear it so low crosses arent effective against top teams usually
