1810: The word is that Rafael van der Vaart is at Spurs Lodge. Remarkable. We'll let you know more about that as soon as we have it. from the bbc :D

Edit beaten to it

Not Meireles? ;)

He's actually not a very good player from what I've seen. Porto didn't want him, he hardly ever finishes games (poor fitness), and is a bit overrated based on a few good performances for Portugal.

However given Poulsen or Lucas as an alternative I was very happy we picked him up.

Torres almost certainly gone next year if we are going to be this small time. The Yanks managed to destroy the club in 3 years, good work fellas.

Reports of Van der Vaart at Spurs Lodge have been revealed to have stemmed from a dyslexic journo watching a DVD in his car.

lol :p

I don't think VDV would be that great for you, with some great players around him he's been completely incapable of producing any good form for Real, he was also completely hopeless for Holland and was only used while Robben was injured. He is much more creative and direct attacking than your current central midfielders and is the type of player you really needed to run a game against 10 men behind the ball Wigan, as realistically you've got a Huddlestone and Jenas rather than a Fabregas/Scholes/Lampard type, more creative and gets in the box to score.

Spurs lacked any real plan against a organised Wignan, but VDV is a bit, well, over rated by a mile.

To many clubs these days are about squad depth rather than first team quality. Spurs could do with a higher quality striker or more reliable one, a faster/better right back, Ekotto has already been incredibly rubbish in two games this season, I'd say all 3 would be prioritys over a creative midfielder, purely because of the number of midfielders you have, and could try Niko, Modric, Bentley in the middle.

I think we'll see a few bids for him in January. Realistically I think we need to be challenging for a top 4 position and have new owners and the promise of funds by the end of December or he'll go.

Edit: Just seen a post on RAWK about Insua. Galatasaray have him on loan for a year with the option to buy him at the end so that'll be on a free given his contract expires when his loan move does? :(

Yeah, I'm guessing he was lied to quite badly about us getting a few quality players in too in order to convince him to stay this year.

If he gets injured badly again this year the floor's the limit for us. I could honestly see bottom half, and I don't feel like I'm overreacting.

Yankee asset strippers are to blame for all of this - hopefully they get what's coming to them and go bust.

Can someone explain to me just how deals can be done late?

I was under the assumption that all paperwork regarding the player's registration had to be with the FA by the deadline.

It's something I've wondered but never asked. Or at least, those I have didn't know either. :p
