For the record in the Euro's, Xavi started 5 games, got 1 assist, 1 goal.

Iniesta played 6 games, got 2 assists.

Fabregas started 2 games, was a sub in 4(so played in one more game than Xavi, got 1 goal and 4 assists. Thats the same assists, and goals as both Xavi and Iniesta together, in LESS time on the pitch.

You will also see that the vast majority of the goals scored were with Fabregas on the pitch, with several very mediocre first halfs completely turned around by Fabregas's introduction.

He was BY FAR the best player in that team in the Euro's, and only seems to not start as there is a very heavy bias towards those who play in Spain getting preferential treatment. Alonso wasn't close to a to a starter in the Euro's when he was with Liverpool, he started I believe the final group(pointless game) and was a late sub in the other games, yet since moving to Real is almost a certain starter.

And if my Aunty had balls she'd be my Uncle.

You know as well as I do that he is behind the three I mentioned in the Spanish first 11 and it didn't seem to do Alonso any harm when he wasn't based in Spain.

In short, do one Statto.

Alonso isnt just a set starter due to real madrid at all he did execptionally well for us (liverpool) during his last season with us so i think that has something to do with it also and the fact he is a very good player.

Yes lets be serious, do you for one minute think that Spain winning the WC with their preferred MF of Xavi, Iniesta and Alonso will add any monetary value to Fabregas's inevitable departure?

I don't not in a million years, now if he starts and has a stormer of a WC then may be so.....

I will be highly surprised if Fabregas doesnt feature heavily in the Spain games. He might start on the bench but I am sure he will be starting most games after a few games. He has a great record this season for international games. Something like 6 games, 3 goals in an injury plagued season.

The real problem for Arsenal is that Gallas, Campbell, Silvestre and Senderos all go out of contract at the end of the month which leaves just Vermaelen and Djourou as recognised Centrebacks (Song and Eastmond as cover). You'd imagine the priority should be resigning one or two of the above, and perhaps bringing in a promising youngest to develop.

Yeah we have always been short at the back and even if they didnt leave I would be happier if we had two new guys in. Hopefully Gallas and Campbell stick around for another season but I can definately see Gallas running for the hills.

So yeah we need at least three CB's. One experienced top draw player, the others backup/promising younger 22-26 year olds. Would also be nice to get a new GK :D

Yeah, We'll have Rooney, Vidic and a lucky dip please :D

Ermmmm correct me if im wronmg but didnt Modric sign a 6 yr deal with the Spuds a few weeks ago??

Gotta love these rumours though:p

Tbh as long as we get rid of Silvestre ill be happy..in fact id rather Wenger sign Campbell and Senderos ie give them some games especially Senderos...hes bad but not as bad as that muppet Silvestre. But really we should be getting Gallas to sign a contract, around 2 yrs at least and pay him what hes worth. To me hes our defensive lynchpin.

Anyhow latest rumour is that Barca want to give us Yaya Toure in exchange for Fabregas lol...and Man City want to give Robinho plus £10mill cash for Ibrahamovic...Gerrard also wants to leave Liverspuds and go to Madrid...

Spain will make space for Fabregas, they have started to do that over the last year. He'll play as much as the others.

Arsenal CBs:
I think we are nailed-on to eventually sign this Koscielny fella from Lorient, we had one bid turned down, the rumours say we've submitted another bid. Seems likely to happen to me because it's a typical Arsene purchase: A. He's coming from France, B. he's totally unheard of. and C. Still young (24)
I don't see us resigning Campbell & Gallas, we might persuade one of them to stay, but Arsenal's policy is totally rigid and self-defeating with players over 30: we will only give them one year deals, and almost certainly not pay rises. They will get better money and more years elsewhere.
Even if we do sign another CB on top of that, which would really surprise me, we'll still be left with one of either Senderos/Silvestre to give the squad some depth :(

Whats Koscielny like? Only seen the rumours about him. I cant see us keeping any of Gallas, campbell, silvestra or Senderos. Senderos maybe if Wenger says he has a shot at a first place this season but I dont think he has done enough to deserve that sort of promise from him.

I'd be inventing-it-on-the-spot if I came back to you with any kind of opinion about Koscielny, I know nothing about him, the only leagues that I watch live games from are the Prem, Championship and La Liga. I occasionally catch Serie A highlights, but I never so much as glance at the table for the French Ligue 1.

I'm sure Arsene has had him well scouted though, our old player Gilles Grimandi seems to know the French League inside out, so hopefully Koscielny will be up to the task.

The trouble with thinking that no-one from that foursome of Gallas, Silvestre, Senderos and Campbell will be at the club next year, is that we already got badly stretched for centre-backs last season; the useless Eastmond had to play games there, Song played there a few times too.
If we let 4 go, we will literally need to sign 4, because Djourou can't be relied on to stay fit, and that would be very unlike Arsene... Realistically I think we'll have to keep 2 of those 4. But that is me being pessimistic :)

Why can't Djourou be relied upon to stay fit any more than, say, Vermaelen or Song? Last season was the only time he's ever been significantly injured, it's not like he's the Rosicky of defenders.

I read a few months ago that Wenger was going to be talking to Campbell in regards to another year at the club. Also correct me if I'm wrong but didn't Fabregas outscore and out assist Xavi this season?

Oh and now Joan Oliver has come out saying that Arsenal's apparent "double your money for Cesc" offer was actually a made up load of ****:

They said they would not sell, it's logical therefore that they have not set a price for him. We made a formal offer. The only official response we have from Arsenal is that they are not ready to sell the player, for which it would be difficult for them to be putting a price when they say they are not selling.

yeah I think Campbell will be one of the ones out of the 4 we are talking about that will stay, but Celtic were reportedly offering a 2-year deal... it's always a lottery as to whether the player will re-sign when you are putting the club's interests first and only offering 1 year deals.

International managers don't pick players based on how good their stats are.

If they did, I dare say drunkenfool and Killswitch would be the best in the World.

Fact is whether you like it or not, Fabregas isn't first choice for Spain.

Quote as many stats as you want :)

I dare say Crouch has a better scoring record over Rooney for various groups of matches, would you put him in over Rooney?

Exactly.
