** Official Thread for those attending the 2011 British Grand Prix at Silverstone **

Woodcote A faces right down the Wellington straight. Id recommend there.

I am also hoping that they use the Wellington straight as the DRS zone as I don't think any of the other straights have good corners at the end for it (Copse, Stowe, Abbey).

It's been confirmed that the DRS zone is there ;)

Actually I think judging by that pic Woodcote would be a great grandstand to get a seat in... how much more of the track can you see say compared to sitting General admission at Beckett's as I've done for the last two years? I take it you won't be able to see the whole circuit but I guess quite a bit more?

I didnt think there was any GA at Becketts any more as they have moved the grandstand inwards. Unless your on about the exit of it out onto Hanger straight.

The Becketts grandstand is good, as you can see over to the Arena complex too.

Either there or Woodcote A would be my bets.

Anyone know if you can see Wellington Straight clearly from Woodcote B ?

No. Its to far round the corner so your view is blocked by the buildings at the entrance to the old pitlane.

Thanks.

Hear them ... but don't see them? Luffield grandstands are facing Woodcote grandstands are they not... Although you'd be able to see a lot of overtakes I imagine into Brooklands.

I mean you hear from coming from Arena straight (well from Luffield B stand) and see them arrive and under braking as they enter the complex :)

The GA is still at Beckett's afaik...

I've sat there the last two years running directly infront of the grandstand.

Can you see over to the Arena from the ground infront?

However, with the DRS zone being the Wellington straight, Woodcote A is the best place.

EDIT: Looks like their might be 2 DRS zones with 2 detection points for Silverstone.

If thats the case, the second one should be on the Hangar straight.

Yeah I'm thinking if there is a second it will be on Hangar straight as well... in which case Vale (or Stowe even!) would be a decent grandstand too!

British Grand Prix

Sunday 10 July: Race - 1300

Hmm having second thoughts about this one tbh. Last two years running as I've said I've bought GA tickets and only gone on the Sunday - and both times last minute bought from the bay. This time around though I think I've left it too late so might just skip it altogether...

Not only that but I'd only be going on the Sunday again as we'd have to find someone to look after our baby boy (Jenson his name btw :D)

I wouldn't mind sitting in Woodcote A but if you look out on the bay for 2 tickets there's only one seller at the mo delivering such goods (and for £750) as he got scolded by his missus for spending so much and he also booked a travel lodge he's trying to recoup the money for! ) :D - most other tickets are on farm curve which I don't really fancy.

Instead I think I might just focus all my attention on Spa and making a ferry run with teh car, driving around the ardennes for a bit and doing a whole weekend, prac - race day.

I've done Spa twice, and doing it a 3rd time this year. So have a few others on here. Definitely worth going to. 24x 18,000rpm F1 cars screaming through the trees is one of the greatest sounds known to man.
