Wonder if you guys have come across this before -

I have a AP-AC-LR and devices "local" to it (same room) connect at the expected speeds - anything up to 866.

I purchase a AP-AC-PRO for the other side of the house due to coverage issues / dropouts but when I connect "local" to it (same room) the maximum I'm getting it 400.

I can't seem to get a good connection speed on the PRO, I'm pretty sure it's not the devices as these connect at high speed to the LR.

Any suggestions / ideas?

I'd try Pro on it's own. Firstly in its current location, and then in the room where the LR is installed.

If the Pro is still under performing you'll know it's not interference from the other AP and it isn't the Pro's location.

To upgrade the firmware, is it literally look at the controller in the app? As mine has updated and shows now more 'update' button, but the version is 3.4.x.x something and on the website it's showing 3.75 I think?

I've been using my APs with a managed cloud controller and they are currently on 3.7.5.4949.

Is the 'app' the phone app? If so I've got no idea as I've always run a local or cloud controller. It used to be a case of upgrading the controller and that provided to the updates for the APs.

Doosky, update your controller to the latest version, then it will give you the option to install the latest firmware(s).

If you're on 3.4.xxx, then you may well still be on V4 of the controller, V5 has been out for a couple of months. Upgraded ours in work without any issues to V5. This is with 250+ APs

Will the POE of a ER-X power my AC Pro?

Also would I notice any difference between the ER-X, ER-Lite and for example the 8 port one except POE and number of ports?

The PRO APs use 48V, the ER-X is only 24V, so no it won't..

I went for the ER-Lite, it's more powerful than the ER-X and I would never need the ER8.

Don't overlook the Security Gateway instead of the Edgerouter series. They're developing this faster and faster now. If I was to buy today, I think I'd take this over my ERLite (purely for the Controller stats)

Could couple that with an 8 port Ubiquiti switch, this would make your controller all light up nicely :D and the 8 port switch has both types of PoE

I already have a Cisco 10 port 300 series switch, I use a few ports on my RT-N66U hence needing a few ports on the router. Don't really want to buy a router and another switch as I already have enough networking gear!

You mean use the gateway as my router?

It's getting there but it's some way of being a finished product. I don't think Ubnt should have released it until you could do simple stuff like manipulating firewall rules and adding static routes without having to revert to the command line.

I'm a Cisco guy so the command line is good for me but the way it's implemented in the USG is an utter bodge.

With the beta versions of the controller you can do more stuff but it's still lacking.

Just a quick question - the Pro has a more powerful antenna/ output than the lite - correct? Does it have any additional functionality? It looks the same to me.

Also I have seen this on the rainforest site. How does this differ from the APs?
