*** Official Ubiquiti Discussion Thread ***

Yeah it would be a ball to admin as you would be double routing stuff. I was running pfsense but I've bought a UDM-P and the main reason was to use the Protect side, having 3 ESXi images running pfsense/Unifi and Protect didn't make sense.

pfsense is much more powerful* and if you don't want the Protect cameras then stick with that.

You can run Unifi controller natively on pfsense. No need for an additional image.

Morning all

Could kick myself, I updated the 3 x APs, POE switch & Cloud Key at my house and now my iPhone XR connects but won't pass data, if tried a network reset, turn wifi off/on I've checked that nothing has changed post upgrade DTIM, Auto Optimize, etc

As much as I love the Unifi kit is can be a pain when this sort of this happens :( (And yes I know its my fault for updating) but there you go....

Just your phone or all devices, wired and wireless?

Have you told the iPhone to forget the network and then tell it to connect again? I had that problem years ago and seem to remember that sorted it.

Honestly this thread needs to be renamed to end with a 'Never Update'.
It is crazy that they have still not implemented a safe updating process after all these years.
If it works don't even bother , the updates are rarely worth it anyway even for the controller.

Have you restarted the APs? I had a similar issue albeit with my LG TV and I had to restart the AP for it to connect again.
I did power cycle the switch which would power cycle the APs connected to it

I know :( I'll think twice before updating in future

Hm, am I being dim here or has a recent update changed the cloudkey landing page? I used to get a page to access my Unifi network, Unifi protect and the cloudkey itself, but now when I go to the CK ip address it only shows me the unifi network?

Protect and the cloud key itself used to be on this page:

can't click the cloudkey icon there - so can only view the network.

Hi chaps

About had enough from my RT AC87U so looking to get a Ubiquiti replacement. I don't need inbuilt WiFi - we have a UAP AC PRO covering the same area. I already have a gen1 controller.
What are my options? USG PRO?
The internet is currently VM 500 down 40 up, I don't really want a normal USG as I have to disable IPS and the security features to get that bandwidth through and my dad has a small business, VPN to his office etc so some security features would be nice.

@ShivP please read up on what IPS/IDS actually do before you spend three times the money on the USG Pro. They are fairly pointless in most situations and worst case just tell you that your workstation(s) have already been hijacked.

I would say a standard USG-3P would be fine as a stop-gap until the new UXG-Lite comes out (probably before the end of 2021). And it's pretty cheap. Or get an Untangle device or a pfSense device. They're just better and they work fine and you won't feel quite so annoyed that you've just spent £75+VAT on 6 year old box that doesn't even do everything your old ASUS would.

Definitely do not get sucked into the steaming pile of poo that is the UDM Pro. It's never really worked properly and the development team are all working on the UXG Pro at the moment so it's only getting hand-me-down updates when they finish something on the UXG Pro. As an example the UXG Pro has the fabled multiple WAN IP mapping onto a single port. Although in theory the UDM Pro is the same base hardware as the UXG Pro they have not released the firmware update for the UDM Pro to allo wyou to do that, and the feeling is building that they might keep it as a UXG-only feature. And that won't be the only UXG Pro feature the UDM Pro doesn't get.

Hmm OK. Other than IPS IDS what are the benefits of the PRO over the 3P?

In that way I am inclined to think that sticking with the AC87U will be a better bet and get a UXG Lite?
