@Hopper- I'd be intrigued what memory usage is like after you have enabled protect.. I'm considering replacing my UDM pro which has 4gb using around ,70% and the new fibre has 3GB but better CPU.

Thanks

UGW-Fibre arrived today, I'm not sure why I was expecting something a lot bigger.

PPPoE OR FTTP 900/100 - Using the same speed test server as the UDM PM

Speed tests seem the same as the UDM PM

However, it does seem feature-limited as it didn't apply my profile for UDM Uplinks, which is interesting.

I'd tend to agree, I can sort of see the logic from the product segmentation point of view.

It seems to be a solid little unit. I'll have to put it on the power meter and see what it pulls.

Just completed some rather crude testing with the UGW-Fibre using speedtest.net, and it does seem slower than the UDM Pro Max with my PPPoE. That's using the same two servers, which are YouFibre / Zen Internet (London). So I have tested it with a fresh config / configure, which was imported from my UDM PM, and also disabled flow control each time it's slower to ramp to full speed and its a few Mb off the UDM PM results consistently.

I'm also going to test with my direct connection as well, as I expect that to be the same due to no PPPoE

Edit:

I've also just tested with my direct fibre connection as well.

UGW-Fibre - 10Gb RJ45 Interface

UDM-Pro Max 10Gb SPF+ to RJ45 - UACC-CM-RJ45-MG

So, the UDM Pro Max, for the moment, will stay as my main device till the EFG arrives. ill need to do some more testing on the UGW-Fibre

The issue is not the doorbell but the mechanism to unlock the door and U.K. insurance requirements.

Most smart locks are not designed to be used with standard multi point locks which you need to lift the handle to engage. They can’t lock the door without the handle being manually lifted.

Hardly any smart locks meet U.K. insurance standards anyway meaning you get higher premiums.
I use a nuki which is on a normal lock. I can api from the doorbell to it to unlock ok.

The the issue I mentioned isn't resolved in that multi point locks are the go to standard in the UK and a smart lock can't lift the handle to lock the door. While unlocking is fine, if the handle hasn't been fully lifted, it can't lock it.

Although the Nuki does have SKG 3 star rating, most insurers want to see the BSI kitemark which is the British standard so you do need to be careful. I see there is also a Nuki Ultion collab with the proper UK kitemark though but it doesn't quite have the sleek design of the high end Nuki Ultra.

It still works with lift up handle. My door has multipoint without needing anything else though.

I know it still works, but the point is you have to lift the handle otherwise it can't lock. You have to be 100% religious about lifting the handle every time you go through the door otherwise the lock doesn't lock.

I like the look of the UCG-Fibre, having the SFP+ ports would be great and allow me to upgrade my internal fibre links to 10Gbps.

I host a controller externally though that runs the networks for 4 houses and I'd prefer to keep it. If Ubiquiti release an equivalent that works with an external controller I'll grab one to replace my UXC Max.

Please see here: https://eu.store.ui.com/eu/en/category/all-advanced-hosting/products/uxg-fiber :D

I should work for Ubiquiti at this rate, as this is getting unhealthy
