Had a good night last night, some really good games. Boycey was flying ....German though!

Just voicing a random thought:
Has anyone considered the possibility that we are feared? Many of us veterans are getting BIG scores these days, so are there people out there who see us fight and think "if I come up against them again I'm dropping out!"

Currently in Munich hunting real Me262's and the like. Will take photos until my phone dies. Guten tag, bitches!

To be honest, I think sticking the tag 'Superior' underneath my name paints a big enough target on me as it is... but I'm sticking with it! :D

To be fair, they'd have a good right to fear OcUK. We ask them to do rude things for shop discount...
 
I'm watching the final from what may be the worlds largest beer garden in Munich.
This match is like watching a group of 3.7s fight a load of 5.7s in a ground attack, and though the little 3.7s are getting hit, they are covering their damned ground units very well.

Damned Argentinians!

So, I tried out the P51 Mustang the other day....

and yes, it's dreadful. :(

Seems to have slightly more agility than the P47, and probably less than the P40. It also has the same firepower as the P40, yet is ranked at 4.7 BR. (a full 2.0 BR above the P40) I killed 2 people with it and got a couple of assists, and then looked at the research points afterwards.

It was enough to make the baby jesus cry.

Why does it require more points to unlock .50 cal ammo belts for a BR 4.7 P51, than it does to unlock 20mm ammo belts for a BR 5.3 Griffon-engined Spitfire? :confused: :confused:

Also, it sounds terrible. It has a generic lifeless drone of an engine noise... yet it was powered by a Rolls-Royce Merlin? What gives?

Oh well, I'll go back to what I was doing before, treating P51's as nigh-on free kills. Especially if you're stupid enough to take one up against my mighty Spits! :p :D
 
Too right matt its a huge letdown being that high in the tiers for what it is.

I'll gauge interest on here as to whether to cancel my plans for tomorrow evening or not, if there are a few people wanting to play then i'll be in too, would be good if we did some low tier seal clubbing and got everyone in!
 
I actually like the P51D, it does take some patience though and it's hugely over tiered I reckon. If a P47 is 3.0 and a Kitty Hawk is 2.7 ...a P51 should be 3.3 in my opinion. It is fast and it does dive very well and it can use the M20 incendiary tracer ammo like the P47, it's certainly better than the Kitty Hawk to me but it's hard to really compare it to a BF 109 G2 Trop which is also 4.7 BR, or the F4's for that matter, which are lower.

It's actaully on the 'same' battle rating as the Corsair F4U-1C which is packing 4 cannons and 900 rounds of ammo and is an absolute beast of a plane.

I think the P51D is a really nice plane to fly, it's just lacking firepower really. If the P51D was fitted with the same cannons as the Corsair F4U-1C it would probably be my favourite plane in the game, sadly it's not. The Mustang MK1 A (The British premium plane) which does have 4 hispanos just doesn't fly like the P51D, I like it, but I prefer the P51D even without the cannons.

I agree with Matt regarding the P51D's engine sound though ...what is going on there! ...it sounds like an oversized fan turned upto high RPM with WEP on.

I am the worlds biggest fan of the British Mk1A Mustang. The thing has been through many battles with me where it allows me to be the last man standing, or gives me 4 - to - 5 kills in a row before I do something stupid, or achieve victory against ridiculous odds, and I love it for that... Or I would if I had played in it in the last 2 months after they tiered it so high I never use it anymore!!!
The P51D is an interesting plane. I can get ok kills in it IF I BNZ, but the thing wallows in turns like it doesn't know wtf to do when you bank it over. Also, its 50 cals mean I have to stay on a target for much longer than if I was in the 1A British.
I need to level it up, but its just not fun to fly.
