Has anyone else noticed, that when you look at a planes modifications, and are yet to unlock some of them, when you have not yet reached the required tier of modifications, the ones at the bottom of the screen give a HUGE boost?

The KI84 yesterday said I would be gaining additional +14mph for about 3 different upgrades. Once I unlocked a few more, now they all just give a few extra each. Do you think it summarizes the amount the whole tier gives instead of each individual modification?

I think they change the values on the fly sometimes. I remember when I started playing and was drooling over the lancaster I specifically clocked that the last engine upgrade would give a 1500ft/m increase. When I unlocked said lancaster, before I did any upgrades, it had changed to something like 300ft/m
 
That was so funny when we all tried to flip him back over.

I need to play this more again instead of fishing in archeage :) need to get my KV2 1 shot beast back.

I fired this up last night as it had been a couple of months since I played and then another 2 months prior to that.

Noticed a few of you guys on last night, Essex and Boycey??. I was MadJock.

I have played this since the tail end of 1.25 and 1.27 which were a Golden period imo. The subsequent patches really peed me off and as such I fell away.

It is still a beautiful looking game and whilst I like to play level 2 and below, flying out last night in my BF109s level 3 on Pelilui(sp?) was just magnificent.

You guys seem to take the game in the same fun way I do. Hope to see more of you on the game!.

Yeah to be honest its much more fun in a group, lots of messing around to be had whilst also being semi-serious about winning.

Boston is the same as the other premium A20 that the Brits get, except they stuck a 2.3 BR on it. No idea why. Same as the A20, it's good to run and gun and bomb things fast, as well as head to heads. I got rammed by a P40 front on earlier and only got a red wing. He fell apart. Win. I see this being part of my seal clubbing Brit lineup, but that's about it.
 
I have read a lot of hate towards the premium gold credits in the game, as they are now x4 more than earlier versions of the game. Is it worth me spending cash on some of the packs? Interested in a few planes and the Japanese/USA campaigns too.

I agree, I think the cost for an premium account is too high.
 
The vast majority of us use Steam to play the game through, and Steam features 3 low-price packs you can buy that include golden eagles, premium account time and bonus premium planes. They are knocked down in price from what is directly available through the in-game shop, and sometimes are even on special offer so get even cheaper!
So I would recommend you wait for a Steam sale event to pop up, then grab yourselves one or more of these before you go buying the packs from the in-game store.

Unfortunately you just missed a weekend where the premium account was half priced for a years worth. But it might come up again. I tend to find that having it gives you half again as many silver lions per battle. But I have no idea about the research progress effect.

But, really, it's immaterial. The fact is, most of us are happiest playing between battle ratings 1.0 and 4.0, and these are not difficult to reach without premium. I just have premium because I'm a dirty pay-to-win player who will take any advantage I can get, and don't have a family or expensive hobbies to pay for. I also promised myself I would own every British Premium plane in a fit of national pride. (Then they put that stupid 7500 eagle spitfire in, and sod that for a game of soldiers!).

Apologies I did not get on last night chaps, went to the beach yesterday and was just ready for bed come the time the connection was strong enough to play.

Did have a few games in the late afternoon to try and get to the boston but the tanks bore me so much I just gave up on it. I don't mind rolling them with you guys, but I love my planes.

I don't think that to unlock a plane you should have to play the tanks, perhaps a special unlockable tank for those wanting to do that, and the plane for the ones that want to do that. Shall be having a word with Gaijin at some point, telling them they are naughty.
 
I am also a Brit aviation fan too! That is why I was considering the premium account for the Typhoon. Although, I am having fun with a Bleinham Bomber at the moment.
 
Does anyone play this on a 360 pad ? Tried on my Saitek other weekend and it felt all wrong I read its due to trying Arcade mode. Few friends I know play this and they only play the modes where you can use mouse and keys. I tried it on mouse and keys and cant get into it like thats.

Joystick or joypad for me. Had a quick go at setting teh pad up it works but really need some tweaks with so many options I'm not sure where to start. So closed the game and not been back.

Cant anyone help me get the pad set up so its enjoyable and from there I can tweak it once I know what the hell is going on. Tar

Premium Typhoon you say? The one with an armament that belongs on a 5.0 BR plane, but it gets a 3.7 BR instead?

Yea, I recommend it... having a nearly 3-1 kill ratio and almost 400 kills with it! :D

Oh, and the Russian T28 tank. It's a bit of a monster isn't it? Perhaps if I bosh some AP shells in it, it'll be even more vicious!
