Right im looking to come back to WoT, after reaching the Is7 the long hard grind none of the resets the NA server got, im looking at coming to the EU server, but totally unsure if premium is worth it now we have to pay for the blasted stuff - Also im looking at going US line instead of the ruskies, while the is4/7 were good i got bored very quick of them, and US tanks are the closest i can get to Brit tanks per say.
So whats your advice? bare in mind ive not followed it much since the beta ended, but i know US TD are coming and i want to try them.

Edit/ do i also need a whole new client?

I think the main benefit of premium is the boost to exp/credit gain.

If you just want to wait for the US TD's, 1 solution would be to just buy the Löwe premium tank and convert the experience into free experience so you can jump through several tiers of TD. Though they might put connections to the other tank trees in also.

If you aren't interested in premium then maybe go for the light/med tank route which normally connects to the TDs (if i'm not mistaken) so you can get a higher tier 1 from there.

Bear in mind I might be talking ******** as I've done nothing but use German SPGs :p Almost got my Hummel now.

Ive seen the tank tree for the US line, seems there is 2 ways of getting into the US TD's, one is the M3 lee, yuk to get the Hellcats, and the easy8 to go upto tier5/6 TDs which i know naff all about.
I was addicted to WoT during the beta on NA, met some wonderful people but they all have gone to different games, so a new EU start for me, i know in beta premium was so important, but has that changed?

And as for getting a Lowe...ermm its german..lol not once in the beta did i ever use a german tank lol.

Not sure, i think i had the choice to pick which server near end of beta or start of the release version. So didnt need a diff client iirc.

Lowe can get 50k with losing apparently (using premium tho) i think i heard some say and 90k during a win.

Cost u £20 ish tho for it.

The US TD line is due end of june with 6.5 patch iirc. You could grind a few low levels now and transfer a 100% crew over to a td when there out and ull have a bit of cash on the side if u dont spend it too much. Might even be able to get camo skills up a bit during that time too.

Here is the US tree as it will be when the td come (minor changes may occur tho).
http://statcdn.worldoftanks.eu/comeu_v2_110412_release/uploads/usa_tree_full(eng).jpg

So if you go for m3 not sure which then u can research with it to go to a td tier3.

If you wana grind very slowly then no premium (i wouldnt play if i didnt have premium at least for the first month) But if you wana grind a bit quicker and not be left behind for ages then get premium for a month or two. This is my 2nd month of premium. I dont plan on more tho i might do one last premium after this but i really dont know yet. Just so i have a good selection of tanks and then ill stop premium tbh. I have the ferdy for germans. Im grinding slowly to a ISU for russians and im hoping to go US td line when its out. Soon as i reach tier 8 or better for them then ill stop premium and hope i can play with them enough. But defo dont sell ur tier5-7 as they will generate the cash u need to run the tier 8+ ones.

And as for getting a Lowe...ermm its german..lol not once in the beta did i ever use a german tank lol.

Well we all have to make sacrifices :p

Its just the easiest way if you want to stockpile some cash and free exp to put towards the TD line when it gets released.

Anyway, 4,000 more exp for my Hummel.

Lol, best match ever. My Leopard (T4) gets matchmakered with T8 tanks on Mines (yay...).

I rush the middle, spot a load of things from each side. A few minutes later drive down to the front of there base below the cliff before speed up the other side into there base and taking out all the artillery while a Ferdinand just sits there looking outwards.

Total with premium, 1348 exp for a T4 tank. Smashed my Hummels record ><

Tempted to buy a KV-5 now... :D

Edit: They've turned tracers off completely till 0.6.5 at the end of June/Start of July? Thats a bit of a cheap fix isnt it? Cant counter arty now. Cant see what bush an invisible TD is in...

May as well dust off the Su-8 seeing as it cant be countered at the minute! :D Get the grind done.

Yeah they really have ballsed it up badly. I'm starting to see at least 3 arty in every round I play and most of the time it ends with say 5 or 6 tanks left and half of them are the arty.

My Hummel is having a right laugh. I don't have to bother about counter fire and I don't have to spend my time looking for tracers of the enemy arty. I can just sit there bombarding heavy tanks.

Lol, I wouldn't go near either of those tbh. KV is a hardy tank but recently I've been 1 shotting it with the Hummel and with the excess of arty fire you're just asking to be slaughtered. Hetzer i've got atm and i really can't tell what its good for. Maybe I'm just not that great at TDs and need more practice.

Well both are just a means to an end. I want the high teir german TD's and high tier russian heavys, so these are the tanks I'm forced to use.

At the moment the kv is a bit of a novelty..... I stuck the 152mm gun on, which can 1-shot most of the tanks I'm facing. Unfortunately it's got a 30 second reload time, and the KV isn't exactly designed to blend into cover when you're reloading. I'm saving for the 107mm gun, which is supposed to be very good.

I've found the hetzer to be pretty good. I just park in a bush along a valley somewhere, and I'm pretty much guaranteed a kill or two as long as I'm not facing something mutiple tiers above me.

Yeah its basically given an artilleries gun with a loading time several times that of an artillery >< Great for lower tiers definitely.

Hetzer seems to get put into high tier battles a lot in my experience. Its kinda tedious when you do because you know everything you fire will cause absolutely no damage. The high explosive shots don't do anything either which confuses me because they were supposed to damage anything short of a ricochet as I understood it  I dunno whether to get the upgraded regular gun or opt for the low-penetration-high-damage one when I finally reach it.

Though atm its proving far too much fun on Hummel. Edging closer to my Panther which will probably be a let down till I get used to it. But still a serious change of strategy.

Yeah, I'm kinda confused about the high explosive rounds as well. I think I've been suffering from the "ghost shells" that people are talking about on the official forums. A couple of times I've fired the 152mm at the base of somebodies tank close range, and had absolutely nothing happen.

The Hetzer does seem to get outmatched quite a bit..... I think that happens with most of the lower tier TD's. I found it to be quite effective to hang around near the friendly heavy tanks, as they draw a lot of the fire, and you can get multiple shots off whilst they're providing a distraction.

I've been free playing this for about a week now, its pretty good fun. Surprising how many times I've jumped in a new tank and though meh this sucks, only to love it after a while.

A good example of that is the su-18 which I really hated initially, however really grew to love it :D worst with this though is the xp sucked really bad, even with good kills etc, you got very little xp.

My garage atm is bt-2 for fun, t-28, marder II, and Sturmpanzer II, but I've tried several others.

Nice medals would be Faidin's, Raider, and Invader. Faidin's was in the SPG, last bullet killing last enemy.

Funniest moment was capturing enemy base with my SPG, last tank standing ;) two spgs held off the two enemy tanks long enough for me to take the base.

Still havent got the hang of TD's though, seem to really play badly on those.

I've got the xp and cash to go KV but haven't made the plunge yet as I'm debating on getting the 75% crew with it which is another 100k. Also have the xp for the next SPG (Grille) but I think I'll get the heavy first. Probably keeping the t-28 for the moment too, just to generate some more cash.

All in all has been a good experience and would recommend to anyone. I can see later tanks being just a grindfest though. So I think I may just end up tinkering around at the lower end of the scale and sticking at T5's maybe T6's. Depends on how much the KV starts to bring in.

Perhaps, though in those cases I find I tend to get blasted early on :p

Id opt for the 105mm with the hetzer, as you can 1 shot tanks of your own level. You can also still do damage to t7 and t8 tanks too, just load up on all he with it.

Yeah I was thinking I should go for the higher damage lower penetration weapon. It should be big enough calibre that most lower tier tanks get 1 shotted and hopefully it does enough to actually damage higher tier ones, even if I do get 1 shotted.

Heh, I almost did that the other day. Our last few tanks got killed by an IS3 on low health and a Tiger II as I was rushing around the outside in an attempt to cap. Got the point to around 70-80 points and the Tiger II showed up :( My Hummel didn't stand a chance.

Garage atm is Grille, Hummel, Leopard and Hetzer. Grille I'll be getting rid of soon once I get a GW Panther, not sure about the last slot.

I dunno how much difference it really makes but people do seem to talk about 75% being the minimum you should train to once you start getting to higher tiers. My Hummels crew is upto 55% Camouflage atm but I don't need the Radio Operator in the GW Panther which is a bit of a pain. Least the training will only lower them to 90% though, then I can put my 95% Grille crew into the Hummel (as I may still use it) and train them up a little too.

Just got my KV by grinding it without any ez-mode premium account perks

Shame it's crap as standard :p

I haven't really found it to be much of a grind so far, however I'd guess the T6 will seem a bit grindy to me (T5 for SPG as they seem to a tier ahead in terms of xp requirements). I was afraid the KV would be crap as standard, but I suppose its all part of the fun ;)

No medium or heavy? I'm basically trying to have one of each just so I can vary things a bit.

Highest crew I have atm is my T-28 crew, which are on about 72%. Up to now I've been going through tanks too quick to worry about training, but I'm certainly having to think more about that with the KV. Considering how many battles its taken to get them from 50->72 I'm thinking the 100k might be money well spent for the lvl 75% crew, either that or just sell my T28 and transfer the crew over (although there skill level drop to around 65% maybe?)

I did originally only have an SPG :p A little after my Hummel I decided to go for the Leopard for some fun scouting and the TD line. I'm not really sure how things will pan out with the higher tier arty though. Compared to the Hummel, the Grille is dire. Its far more mobile and its turrets cone of fire is so much bigger. I'm really not sure about the Panther and Tiger though...

Yeah not worth the effort on the earlier ones. Grille it was worth the trouble and even more so for the Hummel. I'm still about 25,000 exp off the 117k needed for the Panther and I'm around 60% on camouflage. Really the 120,000 it cost me to train the crew is completely dwarfed by the 100,000 for the camo-net, the 300,000 for the artillery-rammer and the 500,000 for the laying drive ><

GW Panther is probably gonna set me back 2.5mil with the 600,000 rammer (i think) on top of the other 2 and 100,000 for training.
