** Official World of Warcraft: Cataclysm Thread **

I played WoW through Beta to BC...Loved it, only gave up due to time. I thought I'd come here and see what's up with WoW these days.

Tradable loot cards? /facepalm

Yeah you missed the boat on those mate. They were around long before you stopped playing.

/facepalm.

Looks liek were low on sign again for the Raid tonight :(
Hate this summer situation lol, pretty much all I'm on for now is the Raids and theyre getting sparser :(

Anyone on Shadowsong serervmlooking for a raid tonight?
It's scheduled for 8-12 (server time) so from 7pm, might start a little later.
I'll check back here when I get in from work, will say whats needed then :)

Would love the campfire lootcard if anyone has a spare :)

Have to agree about TBC. It was the best expansion. There was loads to do, it still had the challenge element and group element incorporated yet it stepped away a bit from the insane grind that vanilla required.

Content was puggable if you were a decent player and generally the old communities were intact. Hell on my server it was so friendly myself and the 2 other boomkins from the other top ally guilds (guilds 1, 3 and 4 on the sever, horde guild had spot 2 /shakesfist) used to organise "learner runs" to help out new players and help guide them through Kara, Gruul, Maggy. We were only dps so the new players had to take on the key roles and it was good for them and great laugh for us. At one time we got all the best druids the top 3 guilds (who everyone knew by name on the server pretty much) and we 10 man druid ran Kara :D extremely difficult without any CC (roots didnt work indoors back in them days) but we somehow got through, I will try and find the screenie off 10 triumphant druids standing over Melkazhaar :D (or however you spelt the last boss in Kara name) We also had our sunday night "Dance off in Darnassus" which used to get crowds watching of between 20-100 players 3 boomkins having a break dance, cheesy but good for the lol's :D We were Bjorni, Starfall (I think) and Boomchicken. Great times :D

It started the slide toward the end of TBC with pre-quests and raid pre-requisites removed (like killing Vashj and Kael before moving onto BT) then they nerfed the toss out of the raids but still great fun!

Kara and BT were the raids I still love and have nostalgia runs in, sooooo atmospheric! Used to love how difficult the last Hellfire dungeon was on heroic as well :o even full BT geared if you missed a step you were toast :D

But yeah, despite the old days that I miss it still entertains me and is enough to keep me playing if not loving like I used too. :)

Hehe I felt quite nostalgic reading this mate, we share the same memories of all the little things that made TBC so good. The Champion of the Naruu/Hand of Adal quest line was great fun. I remember running the Shattered Halls Heroic on my Warrior tank for the first time and thinking OMG! Back before Blizzard gave warrior's some loving and I had to spam tab + devastate through all the targets hehe. Becoming a master swordsmith was a highlight for me too. I remember how happy I felt when I finally upgraded my second tier Lionheart blade to The Lionheart Executioner. Awesome times :D

I wish the game still had the appeal like it used to. I tried BWD a couple of times on my Ele Shaman but I wasn't too impressed to say the least. Managed to kill 4 out of the 5 bosses but I found myself getting bored incredibly quick. I can see what Blizzard were trying to do, it might of been fun if I hadn't ran UBRS 3 times a day @ level 60. Pretty much the same textures copied and pasted :(

Was thinking about it the other night - Killing the Lich King was a pretty high benchmark.. infact I don't really think it's possible to go beyond killing the King of all Kings. I've killed dragons, undead, demons, giant fish, sea monsters, ogres, fire elementals and the rest. :D in my head I suppose I have completed WoW or as close as I can be to completing it!

After about a year away I have an itching to go back for some ultra-casual vanilla content. What I really want to do is roll a healing tanky char and solo my way through the old raids. I think I'll wait for the next expansion, though - has anything been released about that?

Im gonna give this a proper go for the first time, anyone got a decent sized social guild with the 10% extra xp and up for linking an account so i can skip through the crappy boring levels? :P

hmm if i get the annual pass would my beta access be still "banned" as most of us who got added to the alpha were banned from future wow betas apparently.

I've been wondering the same myself, unfortunately I believe it will remain banned

Mail Colin through his trust and ask him to get a proper answer

I was wondering that one myself as well, especially when the annual pass thing specifically advertises the beta access as being part of it. Could open the door to false advertising claims if it didn't give banned people access.

There was a lot of us given access by a forum member, not really what sure what went on behind the scenes but to cut a long story short a lot of us now have the beta section on our BNet accounts banned :(

Wonder what the best approach is to this, is the original thread still kicking about?

From what I recall, Colin had the capacity to invite friends & family members into the Cataclysm betaand decided it was a good idea to open the offer up to any Tom, Dick or Harry that asked for it on these forums. there were a bunch of people who signed up to the forums for this very reason, a host of regular forum users who took advantage too and once someone got wind of it over at Blizzard HQ the whole lot had their beta access permanently removed.

Smelled a bit dodgy from day 1 to me, but hey, you can't con an honest John.

Q1: Is Bans Hammer an alliance or Horde guild?
Q2: What do BH use for voice comms?

Both Bans Hammer guilds are Horde.
There is a 10 slot mumble server running from the website stuffs, but one of the fellas has a vent server that we could use if we need to.

I've culled all the inactive players and everyone who didn't respond to the roll-call for the Defias Brother server, so that guild is ready to start all over again.

Ravencrest is still low pop, but friendly and aiming for guild level 3 - huzzah :p.

Interesting, mine didn't get banned, I lost access to that alpha but can still access the beta section. I've a second account now anyway separate from that one.
