***Official WoW Cataclysm Thread***

Urghh, Dont know if I could face starting wow again, but I have to admit it looks like they have certainly done some work.
I'd never get back in my old guild now as they are 100% raid foccused, all the community has been sucked out of it, and dont know if I could solo 1-85.

Anyone fancy re-rolling as a casual 2 nights a week, always fancied having a hunter to play properly rather than have one as a mine/herb farming machine.

i shall be rolling on

alliance -darkmoon faire
horde - argent dawn

i like the rp as it makes a change from questing/raiding/pvp sometimes

I think flying mounts in Azeroth Is dum
blizzard are making the game to easy and noob friendly

lowering the cost and level of mounts by a lot
making it 100 times easier to level
gear .. Well I won't even start saying how easy that is to get

I like the look of the graphical improvements

I will problem be interested when xpack cones out and return to WoW (hopefuly I won't). But I might for a month to see what's to do

it's just not solo friendly, never has been.

It is now, they decreased the amount of the xp required 1-70 and certain quests involving elites are not elites any more. Plus new talents and battle dynamics make it much easier to solo level.

I have solo levelled 2 paladins, 3 hunters and a warlock....currently levelling a Druid.

On any of those classes i was even able to solo group quests. Yes it easier, but it makes the game more accessable.

I know a lot of people scoff that i stick to RP servers on here, however i find the people on them in general far more mature than on PVE/PVP servers.

My account's fell over now, as in I cancelled it and ran out of game time.

I haven't got the time or energy to play at the moment, with GS really bugging the heck out of me. Cata I will likely return to, I'm curious as to how the changes will play out.

I just wish some of the changes, in particular 10 man ones, had been implented all the sooner. I know I'll take some stick for saying that, but I really hated 25 man raiding a lot of the time because my guild (which has since basically disbanded) really didn't have enough good players (in both skill and personality) to pull it off. Plus, I really liked going in with a small group of people you know and trust, I'd been with the core 10 - 12 for so long, and had leveled with them.

The changes with the gear for both 10/25 man being the same is interesting. I've not got much interest in the next two race additions, though I've got to say I'm most excited about the changes (and prospect of 1 - 60) in the old world. If nothing else, I'll likely return just to level.

My only concern with it, is you'll go through 1 - 60 having lots of fun with new content, then end up back in Hellfire and be a sad panda all the way till 80 when you can go to the new cata areas. Having said that, I'm really one of the few that likes Hellfire, it really does mark a huge achivement for your character when you set foot there, and I've got to say, I remember the first time I stepped through the Dark Portal with my Shadow Priest back when I'd just really started to play.

world perma changes, it will be a whole new experience 1-60 and 80-85

(blood elf and squid starter areas remain the same though)

I thought the 1-60 remain the same for a level 1 and only via some "event" or "quest chain" does Azeroth "phase" change into the new content we all see on websites.

Lots of " mmmmmm... """""""

Nopes, 1-60 will be very different. Changes like the Barrens being split by chasm's + lava etc + quest changes will effect all. They look to be giving at least most things a quick once over so expect a little more polish on the 1-60 experience (in the same way that 60-70 seemed so much more refined than levelling in vanilla).

As a tip too, roll at least a couple of new characters now and get gathering professions, save everything you farm (get a guild bank just for u) and sell it to all the folks mass rolling worgens/goblins in cata :)

Its so easy to level now, which is great. Any 'hardcore' who loved the grind are blubbing about it being too easy now but realistically, its all about making the game more accessible. Ive spent a couple of months getting a character to 80 very casually and enjoyed a great mix of quests, battlegrounds and PUG dungeons which has kept me playing much longer than before when I got so bored with grinding levels.

Cata is going to be great. I love the idea of decent 10 man raids with the only difference being the quantity of drops - the new classes and the huge changes to current classes - rated BGs - theres just so much interesting stuff happening.

There is still portals in that temple and there is still the zuldrak raid instance that was meant to be coming as well, along the line of zulaman.

Will they be implemented, probably not, where they meant to, probably so.

There was a great thread a while ago on wow.com about unused content in wrath and there is loads, but no one knows why none of it was used.

I know this is an old post but I thought I'd just add: The next patch (3.3.5) will introduce the Ruby Sanctum raid instance under Wyrmrest Temple.
It's basically another dragon raid with 3 mini-bosses and the big boss Halion. Nothing special, it seems to be a rushed thing to keep the guilds that have downed LK HM playing until cataclysm hits.
Loot will be of a similar quality to ICC apparently.
More info here: http://www.wowwiki.com/Ruby_Sanctum

I'd have preferred to see another troll raid in Zul'Drak. I'm sick to death of all these dragon bosses.

Sorry, was a bit of a broad statement. Was more so referring to things you can do when you have reached the cap :) Leveling up is definitely solo friendly, leveled up a Warrior, Mage and Priest all the way to 80 on each and never found the need to group up, but at the cap it just seems there is little to do in the way or solo things, and it's all group instances/PvP, 10+ man raids. Raids take forever, group instances are a good hour+ and PvP can takes ages to - there's just little in the way of things you can just jump on and do in say, 30 minutes, everything requires most of your night to actually get anywhere.

But I'll read up on what they are changing more, as that paragraph above is based on what the game was like when I quit, and maybe it's changing for the better in the expansion... which I hope is the case, as I just don't have the time anymore to spend 89374598349854 hours in raids.

I think this is what will bring the game to many people.
I loved UBRS back in the day when kiting Drakkisath to the beasts room and screaming on teamspeak that he's on his way back was an epic experience.
I loved Karazhan when TBC hit. Freshly dinged 70 all around the same time with those guys that I had played 1-60 with. 10 guys, all being half decent players and able to game and chat at the same time.
Also the Zul'uman speed bear runs.. man they were the highlight of my wow week.

You could never really have any proper banter in a 25man raid, vent got too loud and people talked over each other, and raid chat just got a jumble of talk that was impossible to follow and still concentrate on raiding. Even though we were a focussed raid team we always had a healer shortage, and almost every raid we had to talk tactics through to a new guy, or just facepalm when somebody stood in fire or green ****.

Very very tempted to come back if I can find a 10 man team of re-rollers, always fancied the idea of each just picking a different class that you have not played properly before, 10 classes and 10 man raids, banter, beer, gits and shiggles

Got a link with all this info? As far as I knew the second you instal the expansion things don't change just like that.

As far as I understand once the expansion loads that's it, the worlds changed. There will be some events leading up to it, attacks on various places, earthquakes, prelude stuff. Then cata loads and hey presto the next chapter. Trolls have their town and everyone rolls a worgen.

Trolls will have there city before Cata that info is on MMO as recent as late night with some screenshots. I know about there being some events before the expansion but I haven't red anything about EVERYTHING being changed the second you instal the expansion.

I had red there was an event/chain/quest hub which would phase from the old one... I'll do some digging around as I'm curious.
