** Official WoW Catalysm Alpha/Beta Thread **

Dear me there is some drama up in here. A guy does you all a favour and out of the goodness of his heart tosses you a bone and let's you into the Alpha and Beta testing which is a PRIVILAGE (spl? :p) not a right and then because you don't get your way the toys come out of the pram and threaten to quit?! Shocking insult to Colins decency. Personally not that fussed about the access but your attitudes will have ruined it for those that are.

Despicable.

Well in fact the attitude of some in here has pretty much summed up the WoW community. ME ME ME ME MEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!! Have a word with yourselves or do the community in general a favour and quit.

It's nothing to do with Colin, its the fact people have been treated with contempt by Blizzard. You wouldn't stand for it with anything else, gaming companies get away with anything, after all, it's "only a game".

People don't even care about losing the beta acess.

It's not about threatening to quit, i was responding to the thing's posted in this thread, if they have banned me from alpha because they don't want the kind of feedback i gave, then stuff them.

If my feedback is that abhorrent that i be banned from not only the alpha but also the ptr and subsequent ptr phases then it's not looking like the game i want to play any more.

It's not an insult to colins's decency to decry the sheer pile of **** that the service given to those testing a product for blizzard.

Fact is people were banned without any reasoning given, leaving people high and dry with no explanation.

Emails sent to the Special address given when joining the alpha have not been replied to in many cases.

I don't find anyone who is ungrateful to colin, but rather upset at blizzards **** poor handling of the situation.
 
Look at the end of the day we all know that as a general company wide policy, though certainly not the one to one service I have personally encountered, blizzard are rather poor.

But let's face it all multi national companies are. Vey few companies are decent enough to offer you a one to one, personalised answer to a problem you have.

Whilst I am sure nothing is personalised toward Colin it comes across in rather poor taste all the complaining considering if it wasn't for the offer no one here would have got within a million miles of alpha.

Can see this all warming up into a big arguement so I will duck out now.

Enjoy what access you had, there are probably plenty more randoms who have been banned but it will probably be an admin error more than anything else.

The point that's flying over your head here is that we're all now banned from Beta invites and the WoW PTR and you wonder why we're annoyed at Blizzard. Sorry but they're not having a penny more of my money. Its the same with any other company that annoys me to this extent.
 
Lot of people seem to have not read the thread and replied with "stop QQ'n, beta access is a privilege". I suggest you stop posting such utter nonsense and go away or be bothered to read the thread and make decent contribution.

The only reason some people are annoyed is because they have been banned from the alpha / beta / ptr realms without any word whatsoever from blizzard, customers being ignored.
There's no toys getting thrown out of the pram, just nubcakes posting baiting comments.

Seems a lot of people seem to have got entirely the wrong idea about what people are annoyed about. I 100% understand that beta access is a privilege, and one that blizzard are will within their rights to revoke. What does annoy me, however, is hearing absolutely nothing as to why, and also having other restrictions placed upon my account (PTR access banned, too) with NO explanation given from blizzard, and not even the courtesy of a reply to my emails asking why.

I suggest a few people here take the time to read the thread before going in all guns blazing.

Well I emailed account admin asking for the reason why my alpha/beta/ptr account had been closed/locked/banned:

'Greetings,

Thank you for your e-mail. Unfortunately the Account Administration Team is unable to assist you with issues related to the Public Test Realms.

For problems of this type, you will need to post on our Public Test Realm forum: http://forums.wow-europe.com/board.html?forumId=11095&sid=1'

Edit: Just attempted to login now and the PTR account is working now - servers down mind, cata account still locked out :(

Sigh... for the last time, we're not "Throwing our toys out of the pram" which is kind of a poor saying.

We're annoyed because we've had 0 help, response, information from Blizzard after being banned with no word as to why. We've been banned on the PTR's, our former "we might get a chance randomly to play in the beta" has been nuked, and almost all of us our 100 percent bored of live.

We've even all expressed our appreciation to ColinUK, it's not his fault, and he did a decent thing.
 
Its blizzards beta to do as they please, I dont think beta invites came with a guarantee of 5 star service and im surprised people think it would. Its a test system, they can up and down it as their leisure, they can put you on it or not at their leisure. Customer service does cost money and you didnt pay them for beta access so you got exactly the customer service that you paid for.

That aside, this thread isnt about why you are quitting or not and needs no further updates on the subject. If your not wanting to play the game anymore then dont.

My current theory regarding the alpha/beta is that its possible that because they will be phasing the invites it may be that the people who got it last have been shut off and will possibly be reenabled as the phased approach goes on. I out of curiosity called up billing the other day in the chance that the account ban had a reason noted on it. It didnt and the chap on the phone was fairly appologetic. If you were considering that I wouldnt waste my time, CS reps dont know any more info

Someone said that because of the ban, they are now banned from all PTR/Beta's in future. If this is the case people have a reason to vent there frustration, although Colin has said he hopes to have it sorted so people need to have some patience.

You are apart of this forum so I would suggest you think before insulting the people you interact with here.

You need to remember that Colin IS Blizzard, when you rage about this you are raging at Colin. I really don't think Blizzard are trying to intentionally **** you off.

I think some lessons have been learnt here from both Colin's side and the rest of the community. Something has happend due to this thread, which Colin will not get into for his own reasons, essentially, I really hope he is not in trouble for.

As for the community, if Colin was to ever offer to help again in this way it would probably be done by trust only.

Lets just wait and see what happens.
 
Hi guys, thought id add what happened to me havent had the time to reply beforehand.

Firstly thanks to Colin again for taking the time to add me and get me into Alpha.

I got an invite to the Alpha by Colin and the day it was up on my battlenet i copied my character over and started the DL. I was then called on a buisness meeting and canceled the DL after 1 hour maybe thinking i will DL it when i get back. Few days later when i tried i recieved the banned message which still stands atm, so i didnt even get to DL the client and was banned or make one comment on the forums.

Personally i am happy that colin even took the time out to help and trust me by adding me, so the ban im not bothered about at all really. **** happens we werent even supposed to be in it. We broke the rules by asking Colin to be invited so take the punishment like men. Blizzard dont need to reply to folks that werent even supposed to be inside the testing, why should they? (But would be nice of them if they did).

I dont hold much hope for Cata anyhows, it will be more of the same **** i hope i am wrong.

Anyhows once again thanks Colin!

I am not "insulting" anyone, I am merely passing comment on what I see as ungracious behaviour in the thread. You pretty much summed it up in the second half of your post when you said Col is blizz on here. some of the ranting and whining came across in bad taste and whilst I don't know Colin I know that I would be pretty bummed out by how the thread has turned.

However just incase someone has taken my posts personally I do apologise, it wasn't my intention to insult anyone merely for people to have a thought about their actions and how they may be interpreted.
 
As a long time wow player i've been following this thread with some interest and without adding fuel to the debate some of the peoples views in this thread are a perfect example of the poor attitude in the wow community.

Fair enough you got banned and you can't explore all the new neat things- but you were given access to this FREE (your sub doesn't cover alpha/beta) and in 99% of the cases without the help of Colin you wouldnt of got this access anyway.

Also with all alphas/betas I have ever tested you have 0 rights to a quality level of service you are a test monkey. You do what you are told. And for the people who are worried about being banned in future betas etc well there isn't going to be another for 2 years so you've got plenty of time to make a new account :p
