** Official WoW Catalysm Alpha/Beta Thread **

If someone could drop me that forum link for Cata as well that'd be great (email in trust), I've got a bit of a show stopping bug Id like to see if there's a cure for :D

Haven't got into the beta yet, but as I said in my response to him, thanks very much for doing this for people, shame it had to get very nearly ruined :(

Im also looking forward to the guild changes, should promote more social activity, which does seem to have died heavily in many guilds between me leaving over a year ago, and coming back about a month and a half ago.

Edit: Tell a lie, I just logged in whilst I'm at work, wasn't there last night but suddenly I've got a Cataclysm PTR entry on my Battle.net login.

I'm guessing it shows up under/next to the current PTR section on your "manage account" page? Hoping Colin saw my email before he stopped giving out invites! :(

EDIT: Just seen that he stopped taking invites before I emailed, oh well :(

Yes it does, the Deathwing icon is a bit of a give away :)

So far I've decided to take a look at the Worgen and Eastern Kingdoms stuff, because for me Dalaran is bugged and when I imported my mains they crashed every time I tried to load into Dalaran, and theres no repair tool on the beta.

Like the patch notes say, the Eastern Kingdoms new stuff does look quite unfinished, but I think it'll be good fun once it's sorted :) (can't say too much obviously because not sure how much NDA we're under!)

If you want to get into Dalaran you have to disable your Sound via the Options. It will crash every time if you keep sound turned on, You can enable it once your out of the City.

Path of the Titans and Guild Talents removed, Archeology just a secondary profession. I've got to admit I am disappointed with those changes, but Cho'gall's secret should be fun. Lots of news saying that the NDA has been lifted, but I am doubtful until I see proper confirmation, I think it may have just been the NDA for the press conference and certainly not the Alpha NDA.

Edit: Confirmed the alpha NDA is still in place, people apparently got confused.

Bit of a bummer about path of the titans but not bothered about the guild talents, they'd just have ended up cookie cutter anyway.

The talents will still be there, just as levels of sorts, you don't pick the talents you get them as you level the guild.
 
As long as thay can make the glyph system into something that will make a difference between people. The current glyph system seems like and after thought.

Yeah the whole deal of PoTT was to give you some depth at 85, to try to limit the amount of cookie clutter stuff and it's just been sacked, i'm not one to insult Blizzard but I do think that this is a bad decision.
 
It was one of the big features and considering the new talents are pretty poor (what have been officially released by blizz I mean) with no real changes its starting to feel like a great big update patch rather than an expansion
 
I'm also starting to wonder what the future holds for "Hero Classes" - I don't think anyone really considered how much work it would be balancing an extra class into the game when they came up with the idea, and the whole Deathknight experience has just put everyone at Blizzard off.

Pity - i'd give my right arm for a Demon Hunter class. :|

Then again, giving the Horde the Paladin and Alliance the Shaman was pretty much waving the white flag to class balancing.
 
I imagine the next expansion will be The Emerald Dream and they will introduce a new Healing Hero Class like an Archdruid to tie in with the theme like they did with Lich King and Death Knights.

Because so far it has been 2 new Races in The Burning Crusade then a Hero Class in Lich King now 2 new Races in Cataclysm....

Nothing they could ever add for advancement at the level cap will not end up cookie cutter eventually.
Someone will always figure out the best combination (even if its only a tiny bit better than the next best) and that will become the accepted norm.

Considering how little information was actually released about path of the titans i'm actually surprised at how much QQ over it there is. Yes its a shame a new feature has gone out the window but ultimately the limited info we had about it just made it sound like something cool, apparantly blizzard decided it wasn't cool enough.
