I will be astounded if its not out before Christmas this year. I know Blizzard aren't great at meeting deadlines, but to not have it out Q4 this year would just be stupid. December release is nearly a sure thing in my eyes.
 
They have said about 4.01 landing soon. Prob 4 weeks or so.

It will bring new talents skills achi's ect, everything cata does. MINUS level cap raise, Archology, new instances. And possibly zones. I'm unsure how they can do this.

Why, that's exactly what they did when TBC came out. New talent tree's etc came before Outland was available.

Nothing new that cata brings appart from talents and not event eh changed lands.

4.01 is the start of Cata. 4.04 - is the cata release patch

that is 4 patches, these will run the changes of the worlds through all the quest lines/lore. And will show the changings of the worlds.

I'm really looking forward to this. Looks like content might be half hard :O

Why are you unsure? They did it for Burning Crusade and they did it for Wrath as well.
 
I don't actually think there will be a 4.02. 4.01 is the class/token changes patch then it moves to 4.03 where cataclysm happens, i.e. we get the intro for the expac and all the old world altered. Following that we get the expansion and (possibly) shortly afterwards an update patch (4.0x).
 
Only offical announcment is that 4.0.1 will be the mechanics and systems changes (on a basic level, everything except content)
4.0.3 will be the version Cata releases at on its release date and will turn on all the remaning new stuff.

The pre launch event is all entirely contained in 4.0.1.

Dunno where people got this idea of 4.0.2 and 4.0.4 from...

Pre launch events yes. Cataclysm intro cinematic and zone changes in 4.0.3. 4.0.4 (or whatever the post launch patch will be) is bound to happen given the history of expansion launches, and will include some bug fixes (+possibly first bits of post launch class balancing).
 
The PTR is currently up with 4.01 - all this has brought is ui changes and talent changes from what i can see so far. And its the start of the cata monologue with ele's all over the lands.

4.02 (+ 4.03) will be the next stage, - rescupting, deathwing taking charge ect.

then 4.03/4.04 will be full release of Cata, new lands ect.
 
Arena season is ending October 12th, so looking likely that it will be 19th or 26th at the earliest before we see 4.0.1. 4 Weeks worth of pre launch events and that would give us a November 23rd release date which also happens to be the 6th anniversary...
