** Official WoW Catalysm Alpha/Beta Thread **

Will the 'Shattering' of the world event and Deathwing's escape be shown in-game in real time or via a cut scene? Any idea how it's all going to happen?

Also, is 4.0.3a (the actual 'Shattering' of the world patch) going to happen before Cata is released or on the actual Cata release day?
 
Guys, this post isn't specifically about Cata, just a query in general. Prior to patch 4.0.1, I really enjoyed this game, I'm not down with all the WOW lingo, my friends talk about the game and they may as well speak to me in a different language as I have no idea what they are going on about. Anyway I played the game like a parrot, I knew what buttons to hit and I levelled up doing quests and dungeons.
I played a Paladin, mainly because my friends did and I learnt how to play it through them, because of my noobness, I stuck to DPS ad enjoyed it.
Then the 4.0.1 patch came out and totally transformed the DPS side to things.
My Pally friends started new characters leaving me to try work out what the hell to do. I got to level 75 with this complete noob attitude.

Anyway, I'm rambling but are there any guides to help me, I've obviously googled may but again it may as well speak in a different language.
I just want to play parrot fashion again, know what talents to go for, what glyphs and what buttons to hit to kill enemies.

Am I asking too much for this kind of noob guide?

Any help appreciated as at the moment I'm clueless! :(
 
ElitistJerks is a good place to look, but in your shoes i'd probably just reroll. The point of the levelling is that you learn the class as you do, and with the new quests as well I think you'd enjoy it. :)
 
ElitistJerks isn't really a 'noob' place to look, though there may be a few useful posts around.

The MMO-Champion forums are usually a bit more noob friendly so have a look there :)

There is a lot to the game, but its EXTREMELY easy to learn. In PvE you mainly rely on a handful of abilities and the rest is about positioning. As a DPS leveling you can just faceroll along without any trouble.

The odd glyph here and there (for leveling) wont make a great deal of difference and then when you feel like it, have a read of some stickies on the MMO-Champ forums and so on, then you can make sure you have the right spec/glyphs and are using the right rotation.

After some practice it will become second nature to you and I'm sure you'll enjoy it!

If you want any help, just ask. I can also find you the most useful threads from the various forums for you to read if you've decided what class you are playing etc ;)
 
Well I want to continue using the Pally but not sure on the rotation, what to put my talents in, I gather retribution isn't enough now for DPS?

I'm confusing myself already :D
 
Nice to see Ogrimmar burning last night :p fun stuff :) The bosses are still lame though.

I'm guessing phase 5 will be the bringing of deathwing ?

Also just a quick question. If I buy the online version of the game and then get a CE can I add the CE key after ? and get the pet. One of my guildies was thinking of doing it but I wasnt sure you could.
 
I think they made an error with Pallys and Tanks are very similar to Retribution on the damage output (well they were in ICC last night).

Now it's gone far easy with a lot less buttons to press and a lot less skills (well on Pally Tank) so its only a matter of learning your rotation and glyphing. As you're not 80 yet you dont have to worry about reforging. Find out what your stats should be as well and gem for them (i.e. hit needs to be a specific number).

It sounds more complicated than it is!

Get an addon called CLCRet, it basically works out your rotation for you and puts the picture of the next spell/ability to use on screen.. very useful to help you learn the rotation!
 
Is there anything happening in wow tonight like last night? had a cracking laugh in Org and Bluff, never seen quite so many players online :)

Yes it's possible. Just give Blizzard a call to upgrade to CE.

Check out WoW Insider - they have some great guides to relearning the new classes. It's pitched at a much more casual friendly level than elitist jerks or even MMO Champion.

Few to get you started:

Paladin Talent Builds

Changes to Ret in 4.0.1

Ret rotations and cooldowns

Hope this helps - I think rerolling is a bit extreme (unless you've seen a new race/class combo you really like). Spend a bit of time in WG or running dungeons with guildies until you get used to the way the new talents and abilities work.
