I can't believe how much Blizzard have messed up the timing on raids in this expansion. We've been raiding ICC for 6 months now and the beta hasn't even started. The only fresh content to keep everyone going until Cataclysm is a one room dragon raid.
I'm thinking I'm probably not going to bother renewing my subscription until the expansion comes out now :/

I've just joined a mates 10man raiding guild who are farming hardmodes. Nice of them to take me on considering I was a little behind things in regards to both tactics and gear. Last night they let me in on the alt/missed raid second run and we took down 10/12 and 2 hardmodes (deathwhisper and gunship) in 3 hours, that was with 3 pugged members. Its unbelievable how much more enjoyable raiding is when you are with a team of people who are patient and want to help each other rather than smashing the keyboard in nerdrage if each boss doesnt die first time and in a record time.
The environment was like my old hardcore TBC guild, nice and friendly but down to business when the raids start. Im just a back up for their main team but if I get to down LK and see the content im more than happy!

Have you tried playing another class? Obviously you're going to get bored if you're raiding the same thing the same way every week.
True, but instead of stopping i am just leveling a new class that i plan on playing as main in cata
.Gave up on raiding after LK was down on 25, cba with HMs atm, same tacs different loot, oh noes.
Like many people on this forum and others I am more than a little sick of the rudeness and lack of manners and general immaturity that goes on in WoW these days (I play Horde on EU Grim Batol). I almost dont identify with the guild I am in any more, the amount of crap, smacktalk and elitism makes it virtually pointless to remain.
However, I am convinced that there is a market for a guild which has fairly strict maturity standards - to get in the guild you have to be mature and polite! Name calling, nerdrage over vent, "WTF n00b LTP retard" etc will all be banned in my guild - it will be more akin to a gentlemans club where like minded wow players can come and actually be in a guild which focuses on the social aspect without any of the nonsense that goes on in the trade channel.
I shall call my guild "The Chivalrous" or "The League of Gentlemen" or "Rutherford Lodge" or somesuch name. I really think that it may attract a decent following for Cata.
So, is there any hope for a guild like this? Or are we, the decent chaps of WoW, simply too few to make a difference? I would be interested to hear what you think - its the best MMO out there and with the right social side could be perfect.

That is one of the reasons I joined the guild I am in. It's mainly made up of older players, say 25 and up with a few younger people, and it works well. It's not what I'd call hardcore raiding guild but we've got 25 man IIC done and are doing hardmodes.
In the guild I'm in there are a few rules like 'Don't get involve in trade chat spam, ie Dirge/An@l whatever' and 'always be respectful on vent'. It works very well since most are older we don't do that rubbish anyway.

Our guild currently has 10ICC HMs on farm, except LK still havnt managed to kill him on HM.
Our raiding goes like this, first night 1 shot every boss on HM up to LK, then a couple of wipes on LK. Second night wipes on LK. Third night wipes on LK
I just cba there is no kit that I need (that is within my grasp aka 25man HMs) So it is really just wipefests on the LK with slight improvements every time.
Still will be nice when we manage to down him but man.... I only log on at raid times the rest of the time i tend to play other games

If you want the more mature player then a late night raiding guild maybe the answer, people who work and have families struggle for time to play and raid so when then do get the chance they very rarely let the other members down.

Our old guild Oops on Azjol Nerub was like that. Unfortunately it became the target of another guild who constantly smacktalked in the forums and bragged over beating various bosses first (Oops had originally had all the first boss kills then this other guild had started to catch up and overtake in AQ40). It all got very silly and a few players in our guild got disheartened with it all, and sought out a maturer atmosphere. In the end the guild just kinda fell apart. Shame really.

Pretty much the same with my guild, even though I'm there on a purely casual/retired basis. Been here since MC days.
They've been clearing the first 11 bosses for months, but aren't really progressing on LK. Shame really, we've *always* claimed server firsts since vanilla - did get pushed through TBC by another guild. Nowadays, they barely find 25 players or the ideal setup to have a good go at LK.
Myself, I've recently started a Shaman. Currently level 30. New lease of life!
I cam back at the start of April and it took 3 guilds to find a group of people with any hope of taking LK down. Guilds are suffering mainly from a lack of skilled people willing to stick the course. It takes a lot to spend 4 months bashing your way through the same instance.
To make it extra annoying blizz made the LK impossible (for a 1st kill) without a hunter. The actual encounter isnt difficult, just move at the right time and get 24 other people to do the same. So it took me 2 weeks to even get a proper attempt at LK because hunters couldnt be bothered (though he did go down that night). To say i was disappointed was understatement. The following week no hunters signed for LK raid, hwat a surprise!!
