Pretty sure the Global ROM hasnthbeen released yet, but very happy on my China ROM anyway so I'm not sure I'll bother swapping over with all the hassle that inolves!

Three are meant to be bringing Xiaomi phones to the UK at some point so I may just wait and see how much they are then.

Yeah but you have to unlock the bootloader to install .The phone with global ROM installed isn't available yet

Is the global version ever released ?
Usually its installed by the seller or you can ask for a Chinese version and install it yourself. Either way it looks like you need to unlock the bootloader.

I'm looking at getting mine on Aliexpress from MI Global Store, looks good but they charge £15 for paypal, although I should be covered with Alibaba along with being able to do a chargeback if it goes wrong.

I don't see why it wouldn't, it works fine on my Global Mi Mix 2S

Does the notch screw with notifications? How much notification information can be shown on the 'always on' display? How is in call voice quality?

Yes it does, cant really see any notifications unless you swipe down and I really hate this. You get few icons in the always display. Voice quality is fine.
