So why do people risk their lives sometimes multiple times per day too hitch a lift from #1 to #25 on the axle of a HGV's trailer?
Because they aren't from France(mostly) they are from other countries and France is merely the best entry point to England. WE give out far more benefits and allow far more people to stay than the French do, if they stayed in France they'd get very little and most likely be deported, if you make it across the channel, you have a very good chance of staying, a roof over your head and money in your pocket.
There aren't poor French people risking their lives to get across to the uk, there are simply poor people who travel THROUGH france to get here.
Spie, I missed you'd moved away, mind saying where you moved to? 25mb connection must narrow it down, but still not sure where that would be.
I really really want to move out the uk, for many reasons, but the biggest one is chronic knee pain, my joints are simply crap, and they hurt far more in bad weather, when I've been on holiday to Spain, California, france, I just have a lot less pain in decent weather. California/Aussie, somewhere like that in a place with year round great weather, where cold would be a low 10-15C would simply massively increase my quality of life.
But I also don't get on with the unfriendly attitude in the uk, I find both California/americans and Spain/Barca/spanish people so much more open and really, just happier and its nicer to be around happier more open people.
