Oh my god... the ultimate MG ZT!

The ZT-260 was a genuine Rover made car. Mustang V8 with RWD, great handling, sounds stunning. The engine is in a very soft state of tune as standard, but loads more can be wrung out of it with e.g. a supercharger conversion which is available for the car.

They also made some Rover 75 V8's, same car basicaly with the sporty bits removed. Only 600 odd V8's made in total IIRC.

Yup 420 bhp is not an issue...

Rover build quality plus 420bhp is an issue though!

Runs for cover from the Rover contingent on the forum

technically speaking its not just a mustang engine. It is a ford modular v8, used in a bunch of fords I would assume in different states of tune. It would have been the model used in the mustang cobra too, which was hardly a particularly desirable car.

I cant see ford allowing Rover to sell cars with mustang branding on them.
Of course, I am assuming these were new engines, and not just ones rover salvaged from mustangs, which tbh isnt that far from believable.

They are new crate engines...

Yes it'a factory built, so whilst it is "special" there's nothing special about this one.

Saw it when it was released at the motorshow a few years ago, and yes it had the prancing horse on the TB or engine somewhere, I forget.

I explicitly remember this as some numpties assumed it was a ferrari lump....

One of the pictures shows the front of the car with a plate that matches the rear.

I reckon it's a private plate and some of those pictures are before and after he swapped them over.

I think it could be just a mustang engine transplant.
I thought these cars used BMW engines

The 75 came with the following engine options straight from Rover:
- BMW 2ltr turbo diesel, in two states of tune
- 1.8 turbo K series
- 2ltr v6 and 2.5 litre v6 KV6 Rover engine
- v8 Mustang engine
