older games you wish were still popular

VGA Planets. After only about half a dozen turns you could end up spending hours planning your moves, I know I did with that Echoview programme which supported the game. I suppose it was my first ever "online" game as such. I actually didn't have my own PC when I started playing it. Until I got my first PC I used to download the turns on my Mig, play the turns at work, then upload on the Mig agan. Those were the days. I think the creator had one attempt at updating the game for modern pcs but I think it eventually died a death.

God damn, reading this thread makes me feel like all new games are rubbish! Had so many good times on some of the ones mentioned here. I miss them :(

I actually do feel that many new games are rubbish, I find often that attributes such as replayability, gameplay, innovation and freedom have been replaced in the modern game by pixel shading, hi-res textures, cutscenes, linearity and limited choices. Though thats another whole topic. :)

Firearms 2.5 a Half life 1 mod. Had a fast pace and big community, then the develpors tried to make the game play like CS and it all fell apart.

Skipped many a day off of school for this game.

Fell in love with firearms after rejecting it when it first came out in favour of cs. Think it was the 2.5 that drew me back for another go at it.

Some of the maps were great for the stealthy good small groups, flip side some were spam gren/tube choke heavy which wore me down over time away back to tfc.

TFC/Firearms/Sven/CS.... even though my head says Quake2, my heart will allways be with the former. When those games were stacked, never was there such great value:)

Delta Force (complete with that voxel engine), was the first online multi-player game I ever played, would love to have a game again even though it was pretty rubbish.

I loved TFC for many years, played it again recently on Steam but just not the same, I think sometimes it is better to leave things in the past and keep the fond memories.

Red Alert (1 and 2)
Age of Empires (1 and 2) - lol played the AoE demo to DEATH when it first came out.
Quake (original, and 2)
UT
Xwing vs TIE fighter
Diablo (albeit a new one is coming out, at some point..... lol)
