Look's like they redesigned the prototype. 60 Hz now instead of 120 Hz but at least they put DP 1.2 and HDMI 2.0 on it. Can't wait to get this baby in. Hopefully the input lag is low!

Finally! Well done dell for pushing the monitor market forward rather than stagnating on milking the same old basic LCD panels...

Would love to buy this to support them but not when I could get a 4k hdr 55" oled TV for £1600....

Nice. I look forward to hearing your experience :)

Not just Anandtech, that is what is indicated on Dell's website. :)
Will you be reviewing this monitor? :p

amazed that we have oled here for monitors finally , thats great news but whats with the price ... have i missed something ?

30" dell 60hz 3500$
as above 4k hdr 55 oled £1600 60hz

what tech could the dell possibly have over a 55 oled tv which doubles the price and gives you half the screen estate ?

It is called milk tech. ;) :D :p

I expect the price to plummet within the year due to the sheer lack of sales that they will get, unless they will be aiming this purely towards the extreme high end professional market like Sony's OLED monitors.

But yeah the price is confusing especially since the previous version was suppose to 120HZ 4k (iirc) yet was only about $500 dollars more (iirc)

60Hz... Thanks but no thanks. I'll wait for second generation OLED monitors which will probably be both cheaper and have better features like GSync and 120/144Hz.

It is milk tech indeed. Price skimming and they can do it easily as they are first to market. Price will come down eventually.

It's the pixel shifting technology. You should not use OLED TVs as monitors because of static image burn-in issue that all OLEDs have. This is one of the trickiest things that slowed down the adoption of OLEDs for computers and laptops.

I will take 60hz any day if it means I get much better image quality. No backlight bleed, IPS glow rubbish. Just wish it had freesync at least.

+1

And expect to see freesync in the next version, milking is a fine art and it has to be done right ;)

- this year, just the bog standard panel itself
- next next years model, maybe 75+HZ or/and free/g sync and 32"+
- year after that, without a doubt, 144+HZ and/or free + gsync

Why give the people everything in one try when they can get people to either double or triple dip!!! :D

The 2016 and newer OLEDs have solved the burn in (well it is still there but nowhere to the same extent and they have found a way to remove any substantial burn in), iirc, it was something to do with resetting the voltage and I believe whatever the program is, it runs when the TV is in standby, they also have some form of software that shifts the pixels to the left/right every now and then.

Although how this will work with static items/images on desktop/windows usage remains to be seen....

was this not canned in Jan 2017?

Because OP forgot to link the article see: http://www.anandtech.com/show/11272/dells-ultrasharp-30inch-4k-oled-now-on-sale-up3017q-for-3500

One of the biggest bits of news to come out of CES 2016, over a year ago, was Dell announcing a new beacon in OLED monitors: a 3840x2160 panel measuring 30-inch diagonal using an OLED display was set to come to market. When we reported on it back at CES, they stated a $4999 price point for March 31st. What happened over the next 12 months was interesting: some journalists doing ‘hands-on’ reviews at tech shows, but nothing coming to retail, followed by plenty of CES 2017 news that the display had been shelved due to image quality issues. Well roll around another quarter, and it seems that Dell is ready to sell it, and shipping for this $3499 beast is only 1-2 weeks away.

I'm so happy an OLED monitor is finally hitting the market, even if it doesn't have all the bells and whistles I'm looking for. Hopefully it gives higher ups at other monitor manufacturers *cough* LG *cough* a kick in the backside.
