Olympic Opening Ceremony

It was epic, best thing on TV in a while

Up until the countries were being introduced, that seemed to go on forever. I fell asleep and woke up at 2am

I actually thought that the ceremony was pretty amazing really! I think some of the Historical aspect was a bit odd, but it was presented well. Does anyone know who played the Brunel esque character? I felt like I recognised him.

The UK one?

Chris Hoy, a cyclist.

It was funny seeing a lot of the others struggling with two hands and him holding it up with just one. He was welling up well and truly as well, same with the Queen at some points.

He means the Cuban I think

That's always going to be painful, nothing the organisers can do about that. In fact, I think they did quite a good job of getting them through in a timely manner. The "sign ladies", and "petal" carriers were - I think - acting a pace makers and trying to stop the athletes dawdling overly much.

Plays lead in the BBC crime drama series Wallander very well. Pretty good show overall. Up there with the better US crime drama series. Well worth watching.

The dancers formed a CND symbol at one point while they were doing the 60s flashback. Personally, I thought it wasn't too overt and simply a reference to a notable movement of the time.

I agree, everyone assosciates that exact symbol with the 70's. Most do not realise what it symbolises.

I stopped watching then and put a movie on.

Did anything happen after the athletes introduction? Then again if you were asleep I suppose you wouldn't know.:p Anyone else know?

Just the oaths; the actual opening of the games by the Queen; speeches by Seb Coe and the IOC president; and the lighting of the cauldron...

Nothing much then :p

ps3ud0

Yeah I noticed that but the guy I'm talking about wasn't from UK. African or Caribbean I think. Lol I remember the camera went on to china's tallest athlete 7"7 I think, he just made the rest of them look even smaller. :D

The most classic part of the evening was Beckham going under Tower Bridge. Me and my gf thought it was happening in real time so we dashed out to the wharf to see if he would go past, only to see ten people running behind us who had thought the same thing.
I think it was only a little bit behind - we saw the fireworks on Tower Bridge a little before, and actually said to each other "oh, people will think that's live!"

Kenneth Branagh ;)

Loved the whole show! 'Twas of epic proportions and a real celebration of all that was and is British!

When is the soundtrack going to be available?

I thought it was a great show with the exception of Macca. It's about time we stopped dragging him out at the end of various events, he just doesn't have it any more.
