Olympic Opening Ceremony

The dancers formed a CND symbol at one point while they were doing the 60s flashback. Personally, I thought it wasn't too overt and simply a reference to a notable movement of the time.

Ahhhh... The peace symbol that represents the 60's even for someone in their 20's. I agree totally. It was an obvious representation of the 60's.

Anyone found any links or articles showing what the world thought of it?

Found one in the Guardian: http://www.guardian.co.uk/sport/2012/jul/27/olympics-opening-ceremony-view-from-abroad?newsfeed=true

I particularly like the Washington Times one

"If the opening ceremonies of the London Games sometimes seemed like the world's biggest inside joke, the message from Britain resonated loud and clear: We may not always be your cup of tea, but you know - and so often love - our culture nonetheless. The themes showcased Britain, past, present and future, capturing the mind-set of a nation seeking to redefine itself through these Games after nearly a century of managed decline. A great empire, gone. Military might, ebbing. Sense of humour, very much intact... For an audience across the Atlantic, it seemed like the rock-and-roll Olympics, an event celebrating the shared culture of the English-speaking world — so much of it thanks to these relatively tiny isles."

I thought the opening ceremony was great!

The only downers:
That really awful solo singer in the blue dress.
Dizzee Rascal.
Hey ****ing Jude.

The rest of it was good fun / a real spectacle.

A real distortion of British history made by cultural Marxists. It is a sad reflection of those who control our country.

What do you think the world thought when they saw Dizzy Rascal? This is what the elite of this nation want us to be.

Haha. I'd much rather have Dizzee Rascal than you to be honest.

It isn't about pandering to a single person's taste in music.

Well i missed the beginning. Don't remember any Frank Turner :p

That can't be a full list? No The Jam? No Floyd?

There was some Jam, Going Underground. Also I saw the Floyd, flying pig, somewhere in the show. :)

*Edit. Ah right another hasty post by moi. I'm with you now. :D

When is the soundtrack going to be available?

I thought it was a great show with the exception of Macca. It's about time we stopped dragging him out at the end of various events, he just doesn't have it any more.

There was a Spotify playlist on the Telegraph, I posted the link somewhere. :D
