Olympic Road Cycling

Let's try to remember the BBC aren't responsible for a lot of the coverage and information (graphics) during the race. That is all controlled by the IOC and their own broadcaster.

I didn't mention it in my reply but I thought the BBC presenters did a very good job, especially in giving their own timings. I wasnt having a go at the BBC, just the official timings.

I am just a bit wound up that the men's cyclists have been nothing but negative towards the spectators who turned out. I grew up around Boxhill and the support was brilliant, yet their were complaints about too much noise and team GB couldn't hear each other.

I don't if you watched the full interviews but certainly from Millar it was a case of the support was absolutely amazing but at times almost too loud.

I.e. not totally negative just pointing out a slight issue

Just saw the clip of the medals being awarded (article was about the silver for team GB), and realised that I know the bloke handing them out. Bit surprised that the commentary didn't say who it was awarding them! It was Adam Pengilly, who recently retired from Bob Skeleton, and is now on the IOC.

Had another great day watching the race in the Mall area.

Managed to arrive a little earlier today so could watch the ladies doing some warmups along constitution hill. The highlight was when Lizzie and Lucy got to the top of the hill where I was and slowed right down to turn around. The look on their faces when they saw how many people were cheering for them was brilliant, I was just annoyed that I missed the shot of them both smiling.

After they set off, I decided to perch on Hyde Park corner this time, as it was on a great corner with a long view of them approaching. Ended up chatting with the people I was waiting with again, so the time flew by. Everybody got soaked as the ladies returned, and the crowd was actually deeper than it was yesterday. I think the rain made for some pretty dramatic photos though.

Really happy for Lizzie getting a medal.

I'm not at all familiar with Hampton Court Palace and the area the TT is taking place. Anyone got any suggestions for where might be good on the route?

If I go I was just going to head to near the end of the route (near Kingston/Teddington stations) so at least you have an idea of times.

I can't seem to find a race order anywhere. Anyone know if one's been released?

As much as I'm loving Zurich and glad my time working here got extended to the end of next month it bloody sucks that I'm missing the olympics coming to the city where I normally live :(

I'm sensing a two week holiday to Rio in four years time :D

Not sure if this has been mentioned elsewhere but did anyone see the Daily Mail article where Jan Moir described Marianne Vos as 'some ***** from Holland'? I'm absolutely digusted by this.

Edit: I'm not a mail reader, the article was linked on fb by a friend.

Jesus wept, what is wrong with people? Why are there so many cretins making such ridiculous, ignorant criticisms of the athletes, let alone harassing them on Twitter?!

Jan Moir is a stupid ****, that much is obvious, but how does the Daily Mail editor even allow that article to get published? she also has a pop at Sharon Davies and Sue Barker.
