I'm thinking about getting the Seamaster Pro 300M Chronometer version (ala James Bond  ) and I have my mind pretty much set on it but is there any other watches that I should consider for that kind of price?
From what I've been looking at nothing can touch it for the price, it will be a watch that will be worn every day so it needs to be fairly rugged.

Does anyone own one and have any views on it?

Have had one and it's a great watch. Be careful about buying one now if you plan to resell soon as Omega will be updating that model to a co-axial version in November, thus devaluing the non-coaxial version you are after now.

Truly a great watch though! Bombproof and great value. I have plenty of pics if you are interested? Email jaypeeaitch (at) gmail dot com.

I had a 2531.80 Bond Seamaster and now have a Seamaster Planet Ocean

both great watches and good value

just make sure you buy the auto and not the quartz ( and get 20% off RRP )

.

wouldn't expect the new movement to knock residuals as it is going to be accompanied by a quite hefty price rise

I had one of these, nice watch. I currently have a Rolex Submariner which is a superb watch, and I would recommend it to anyone.

The only other watch I have found that comes even close to the quality of the seamaster is the submariner at 2 to 3 times the price. You really cant go wrong with a Seamaster. It’s a fantastic watch but as rotty said don’t buy the quartz.

I had a seamaster (and want it back again) and have a Seamaster, you will not be Disappointed

Think you will be treating yourself to one of these new ones in the near future Rotty? Or are you happy to stay with your current model?

The Planet Ocean I have has the co axial movement so I don't see me getting one

I am looking at the auto model and I have so far negotiated a deal to beat £1045 so thats £155 off the retail. That is with beaverbrooks, do you think I could get a better deal?

Should be able to do £914 - 960 on those. I can one for £960 without trying. I'm sure Rotty could do better.

Have you thought of 2nd hand?

yes , low 900's should be fairly easy

/edit

just noticed that list has gone up so aim for mid 900's , as JKD said 960 is 20% off which is standard discount

I just emailed your trust email with a suggestion.

Thats for that mate I've just got your email.

How does the guarantee/warranty work if you but from an online retailer?
I was told from the store its null and void but I'm sure they would say that!

Certain retailers who are not AD's buy their stock form an AD at a massive discount. The proper AD stamps the warranty card, but sometimes doesn't date it. Then the online dealer sells the watch and dates the warranty.

The last watch I bought from that guy was stamped by a German AD. As it's an international warranty you are fine and dandy if you get any problems.

I also checked - the AD who stamps his cards was listed as an AD on the Omega website.
