I was just being lazy - it was for me, ive got one.
So have I, Rotty's old one is on my wrist. You should've removed the Rotty bit if you were being lazy though, otherwise you're misquoting someone and look daft ;)

Just got back from hols in Ibiza so slightly dippy anyhow :D

I hate watches and havent worn one for 10 years or so but I saw a brietling hurcules when i was shopping the other day and Ive had dreams about it since. I just dont know if I can justify spending £2000 on a watch when they arent even my 'thing' what do you guys think of them?

Well it chould be a slippery slope after you get your first one.

I was not really into watches however I kept seeing rottys posts about his seamster so I decided to give it a go. Since then I spent way way to much on watches, im just about to buy my 5th timepiece since last November. I could actually buy a car with what I have spent lol
:)

The only have 1 problem with a Seamaster is so many people have got them, i'd love 1 but may go for a Brietling Superocean instead just to be different.

Did I post about the Seamaster , didn;t think I had it that long TBH :D

re the comments re scratching then yes the Seamasters ( PO inc ) scratch quite easily on the clasp ( mainly due to the size of it ) but the rest of the watch is usually ok

I've fallen in love with these watches recently too. Unfortunatley i've jsut left college and will not have that kind of money for a few months yet :(.

does anyone have a Hurcules?? are they good? they are massive arent they!

about 44-45mm which is on the large side but not massive by any means ( though 10 years ago may have been consider as such )

the movement uses the same base ebauche as used in the Seamaster

The Planet Ocean I have has the co axial movement so I don't see me getting one

Can you expand on that Rotty?

I'm looking at the Planet Ocean as an Xmas present to myself and I'll admit that I don't know a great deal about watches in this price band.

The Co Axial movement is a new design of watch movement from Omega , basics of movement design change very litle over the years and this is considered by many to be a considerable advance

It has been used in the Planet Ocean and DE Ville models for a while and is to be introduced into other Seamaster models

I bought my Seamaster (2531.80.00 - the Bond one) 8 years ago and loved it. It's a good looking, rugged watch that should (properly serviced of course) give you trouble-free performance.
I recently gave it to my Dad as a gift, and am now wearing my Seamaster chrono diver (2599.80.00) which I adore..it's a bit chunkier though so you've got to have a wrist big enough.

In reference to the bracelet clasp scratching, well yes mine has on both but I've been using a 'fibreglass pen' to get rid of them. I believe this was originally designed for electronic contacts but you can buy them on eBay for a few pounds..well worth it as far as I'm concerned.

Caution Only use this pen on the brushed steel parts of the watch though as it will dull the polished bits.

You should be able to use it on brushed titanium too. The Watchboys (from memory, so could be wrong) on Ebay sell them as a brushed steel/titanium refinishing pen.

I personally don't like the Hercules or some of their other more 'aviation based' watches. So I went for this a few weeks back (you can't beat a good dive based watch):

BTW: That's served from my webspace - that's not leeching it is?

I almost bought a Seadweller yesterday in town. Only thing that stopped me is I am more used to the substantial feel of Omega and Breitling bracelets. I was certain the latest Rolexes had solid end links, but I'm sure the salesman was trying to offload old stock. The sub he showed me, you could see where the springbar holes were on the outside lugs, and once again I'm sure Rolex changed that recently.

Any clues, Rotty?

IIRC it was changed a few years ago, asking for the serial number would date a Rolex.

My SD is 1yr old
