Omega Seamaster

IIRC it was changed a few years ago, asking for the serial number would date a Rolex.

I thought so! So pleased I walked away from that now, I would have been well unchuffed buying old stock for this year's price.

I'm not an expert so could be wrong, someone more knowledgable will no doubt be able to give an expert answer here soon.

Well, even from your picture I can see there aren't 4 holes in each of the lugs. So the scumbag's stock must be at least a year old if you got yours a year ago.

At least I got a nice catalogue off him! It's a shame, if he'd have come clean and said it was a slightly older model, I would have ordered a new model SD there and then.

At least now I get the luxury of spending some time finding the best deal on one. (And of course selling some watches to make way for the new!)

Its still my everyday watch and its still unmarked though my wooden desk now has a few scars. My old Air-King is relegated to occaisonal use when I need a slim watch to fit under a shirt. My next Rolex will be a TT Daytona once buisness picks up.

The guy I bought my SD from has a BNIB Z Series SD available for £2400 if you are interested?

I'll bear that in mind if I can flog my Seamaster Co-axial GMT. I also have a line on a new GMT Master II for just a tad more than that price, but I need to get it on my arm to see if I can live with the cyclops or not.

If there was no cyclops on the GMT Master II then there would be no contest as I do like having a GMT watch and the pepsi bezel really does it for me. But I absolutely hate the cyclops in pics which kind of steered me towards the no date sub and SD yesterday - but I'd be a fool not to try them all on.

I almost bought a Seadweller yesterday in town. Only thing that stopped me is I am more used to the substantial feel of Omega and Breitling bracelets. I was certain the latest Rolexes had solid end links, but I'm sure the salesman was trying to offload old stock. The sub he showed me, you could see where the springbar holes were on the outside lugs, and once again I'm sure Rolex changed that recently.

Any clues, Rotty?

solid end links and the filled in lug holes are differnet things but neither have been on subs and SDs for at least 3 years , old stock sounds odd as both these watches have waiting lists , are you sure they were new ?

the cyclops is easy to remove and if you aren't confident then Rolex service centre will do it for about £50 ( though if the crystal breaks you have to pay for new one )

You know you can remove the cyclops?

I did read that many do remove the cyclops themselves - however I was mistaken thinking that every time you send it back to Rolex for service they put it back on again. It's great to know that it's an authorised mod.

Thanks guys - you've just opened up a world of possibilities for me! I'll have a rethink now and go for the model I really want and just remove the dirty cyclops.

Will both the full and mid-size Seamasters be getting the Co-axial movement?

Don't know TBH though I would say it is likely

Unless you are of a minscule build you really don't want the midsize as it is very small by current standards

My (fairly old now) Omega Seamaster Professional, I love it, don't ever think of replacing it, even when it does cost 80quid to change the battery

My present Seamaster. I never manage to do decent wrist shots, so I used some bananas:

It's got a nice display back, and a little thicker than the non co-axial Seamaster. For some reason my wife hates it though. Can't see why.

I've tried both and the full size looks ludicrous on me, like a pencil through an onion ring ;)

Mid size is perfect. Curse my girly wrists :)
