everything wrong with playing the victim

Like another poster said, I and tens of millions, hundreds of millions even, around the world, will continue to give you oppressive lefties the finger, by voting further and further right, until the message sinks in that we are fed up with this extra-liberal, overly PC, x-gender, open-border, welfare nanny state etc. approach that you special ********** so love.

How long will it take, I wonder, until you recognise that we are the MAJORITY now and you are the MINORITY.

Instead of throwing your toys out the pram and being so oppressive toward people that do not share your OPINIONS why don't you try to work WITH us rather than AGAINST us. Or continue to be arrogant & sanctimonious and see how far we'll take it, it can get a whole lot worse, oh yes.

The problem with a lot of the right wing is that the rhetoric I've outlined in bold above is often the first stepping-stone to discrimination, then violence based upon that discrimination. Something that the right wing and other nationalist types have a strong history of -

Demonising the 'minority' as the 'other'. Setting the justification for, well... just about anything given the right conditions. The false reasoning that having majority/minority positions reversed, now it's time to be righteous or perhaps even vengeful.

Declaring you're either 'with us or against us'. Delineating friend from enemies. And, naturally, enemies must be destroyed.

Daring those who disagree to 'see how far well take it, it can get a whole lot worse, oh yes' spoken with all the zeal and fervour of the fanatic who is impervious to reason or compromise.

I'd wager that those same liberal lefties you complain so bitterly about would fall short of the sort of oppression that has been laid at the feet of the right-wing nationalist time and time again.

******************************

Leaving my 'dangerous opinions' aside, I've watched the whole American election process with a growing sense of distaste. In much the same way as the brexit factions left behind a foul smell in the air, palpable in the back of the throat.
Neither candidate was the president elect that America needs. But Trump is probably the one they deserve.

Oh and please, I must have heard half the office this morning joking about WWIII with Russia being imminent now that Trumps in. Please, do you even politics. Hillary (and the left in general) has been baying for a war with Russia, now that Trumps in we can finally grow up and put all this cold-war nonsense behind us and start to build a decent relationship with them.

So what are you saying exactly ?

Weren't they clapping Trumps victory in the Kremlin?

Indeed, in the last couple of months some idiot leaders where trying to make out Russia was the new enemy when they were the only ones dealing with ISIS properly. I swear the west wanted a new cold war with Russia, now things could claim down again as Putin and Trump seem to like each other

I just cannot believe a president has actually been elected through pure and utter irrationality and emotional response. I have not once seen Donald Trump rationalise or even attempt to rationalise anything he has ever said.

He states a problem in society, blames it on Muslims, China or Mexico or any other external non-factor, then says he will build a wall (or other completely random thing) which will then result in America becoming great again.

This is pure insanity. I did warn people that the world is dumb and only getting dumber but I would never have predicted that this would result in the election of a complete buffoon.

Lovely. Keep voting for Christmas and the rich Tories and there big business backers will carry on getting richer while the rest of us keep getting poorer. I'm not an extreme left or right and neither are most people I am in favour of the politics of consensus where everyone is involved and we don't swing from one side to the other like some cheap pendulum. You carry on beating your chest and berating the liberal lefties see if it does you any good.

I have to say i was shocked when I checked BBC news this morning. Hope at least it'll work out better for us as Obama didnt seem to care for the UK or the 'special relationship' at all.

The Russians were dealing with ISIS properly by propping up a dictator who used chemical weapons on his own people and blowing up UN aid convoys to the Syrian people.

You must be trolling!

I, like a lot of people here I would imagine, get richer every year?

I don't get why people are claiming that Trump is a mediocre businessman or even that he's a failure. Or the ludicrous statement being banded about here that he'd have done better putting his money in the bank.

In the late 60's Trump had a net worth of about $200k, the equivalent of around $1m today.

By the early 80's he'd turned that figure to around $200m or $600m today.

In the mid-nineties he inherited about $200m, around $300m today.

By 2000 his net worth was estimated to be around $1B. About $1.5B today.

Since the noughties he's net worth has risen to an estimated $5-10B.

Sound pretty impressive to me, Trump might come across a bit aloof sometimes but the figures speak for themselves. And now he's going to be the president of the most powerful country on earth.

The man is clearly no idiot, anyone saying otherwise is.

At least we know that the country as a whole is not going to get poorer if he translates his business acumen into fiscal policy

You gauge someone's idiocy through their bank balance?

Not only that you think someone's ability to make money has something to do with being able to perform presidential duties?

What do you think this guy's going to do for you? make money or something? :D This is exactly what I was saying in my last post, infantile emotional responses, zero rationalisation.

His luck or his financial worth has got nothing to do with anything.

His 4-6 company bankruptcies, a near annual $1bn loss in the 90s, some very questionable business decisions (e.g. going bankrupt with 3 casinos) and his admission that he sometimes exaggerates might be why some claim that.

How many billions has he written off in bankruptcies?

With the constant harping on about left vs right in this thread you'd be forgiven for believing we all actually live in bloody America! We're not blue vs red, two party system here, stop acting like it is and pull your heads out of your derrieres.
