On The Wagon... then in 'ere!

That's just a small bonus. :p Rediscovering oneself and a different approach to life are the real bonus! :)

How is it going for you?

Very well said and also very true :)

Going great, still off the booze with the one small flute of champagne at a summer wedding being the only alcohol to pass my lips :)

Get the rare urge (I do mean rare) for a beer, though more in passing rather than prolonged suffering. I know fine well I could have a few and leave it at that but I'd rather just keep going. :)

Thanks for asking.

Anyone in here have a serious problem with alcohol and managed to straighten things out? A friend of mine has turned to alcohol, and I'm concerned... I want to help him and offer him advice on how to cope without it (at least not to the same degree). We are good friends so I know he will listen to me. :)

Can't say I've a 'serious problem' but I'd be telling lies if I didn't say I used to be very partial to a beer or three. I started this very thread when I decided to stop drinking to give some support to a few other people who were having difficulty quitting.

I just decided that for me it would help if I could eat a bit healthier, plus take some exercise to occupy my time and ultimately lose some weight and get fitter. It worked, keeping an active body and mind helps a lot.

Since he's your mate, try (ignore if you do already) not to drink around him, if you're going out somewhere, encourage him to drive (if he can). The most important think is to tell him your concerns, sometimes just hearing it from someone you trust can make all the difference.

No beer since the 2nd September!

Felt fat as **** after my holiday so nailed it. First session back on this weekend watching the Grand Final.

First weekend of the month down no problem :D Three more to go !!!
Good man, keep at it :)

I've stopped drinking as of the 28th of September not just for October but for good.:D
Well done indeed! :)

Well done! Drop in here if you feel the urge to have one. :)
100% this. :)

Helps you back up on the wagon :D

I'm not completely on the wagon, I live in Ireland, I'd be viewed with mistrust if I did!

I am however cutting it back on an evening. Usually go through a bottle of wine and 10 pack of those small beers.

Colleagues drink a lot amongst "other" things so I'm trying not to get dragged in it too much...

I had a medical visit the other day which scared the **** out of me. Lots of flags were raised. Hell my resting heart rate at the start of university was 55, and now sits at 75. :/

Since advent started I've cut out drinking beer at home and only have a bottle of wine every other night.

This is in conjunction with changing my diet radically.

So not on the wagon but running along side you guys. Christmas is going to be tough!

Well that's a year :)

To celebrate your anniversary we have a Lime Rickey:

30mls of lime juice, squeezed with the squeezed slices.
30mls of sugar syrup
15mls of orange bitters
Add ice and shake well
Take a tall glass, add ice.
Pour shaken mixture through strainer
Add 120ml of soda water, stir
Garnish with a scattering of lime peel
Serve

Please raise your glasses...

Here's to another year, cheers! :)

Cheers guys :)

@sports_brah, just cutting down even slightly is a start. I myself decided to cut it out completely as a support to others (hence this thread) and found with doing exactly the same as yourself, by eating healthy and taking exercise I reaped the benefits.

The very best of luck with it :)
