Here's to another year, cheers! :)

I'm the same about the money. Starting to realise i'm gonna have money to start doing things and buying things that I couldn't before. First up will be a brand new 50 inch TV.

I couldn't believe how much more money there was when the drinks stopped. It's another nice reward for making the effort.

One to start the summer with, Green Tea Cooler:

2 2/3 cups brewed and cooled green tea
1 1/3 cups pineapple juice
1/4 cup honey
2 tablespoons fresh lime juice
Ice cubes for serving
Fresh pineapple chunks for garnish

In a jug, stir together the green tea, pineapple juice, honey and lime juice until the honey is dissolved. Serve in tall chilled glasses over ice, garnished with fresh pineapple. Serves 4

Cheers :)

It took some people a few years to finally believe that I had given up drinking. Apparently the glasses of soft drinks and water were just a front! :D

Not really much to tell. I always enjoyed a drink with wine being my favourite, maybe having a glass or two a day. All was fine until I went to a bottle a day, even more at weekends.

My health and well-being started to suffer and it was obvious to see what was causing this so I decided to stop.

Just about every aspect of my life changed for the better when I stopped. As with many other things it’s not too difficult to do if you set your mind to it. :)

I've decided to do a similar thing.

For years I've been drinking very slightly more heavily year by year.

I never drink before about 6.30pm but probably drink most of a bottle of wine in an evening maybe 4 or 5 times a week.

I never feel that drunk and wake up feeling fine so it is not causing me any problems but it is still too much just from a financial/health perspective.

I've decided to stop drinking until 12/12 with 3 passes for social events/dinner with friends we have already planned.

For me it's a habit thing. 6:30, start cooking supper for the family, open a bottle. If I get to 9pm without starting I don't miss it that much. But at 6 or 7 I really fancy a glass !

Lets see how it goes. Hope to lose a bit of weight as well.

This sort of habit does impact both on health/finances and can lead to more serious implications so you're doing the right thing. Hope it goes well for you and good luck. :)

Had this stuff through on a marketing e-mail and it looks pretty interesting (and just plain pretty) for the non-drinkers:

a non-alcoholic gin essentially, tempted to get some for when i'm driving, breakfast etc :)[/QUOTE]

Just pull out a bottle when the cops stop you. ;)

Just gone on sale and Selfridges have it for £29.99. Might get this as a Christmas present but not for me.

We haven't had a cocktail for a while now so something for the end of the year:

An easy one, Festive Cheer:

4 cups cranberry juice
2 cups pineapple juice
2 cups orange juice
ice
sprite or sparkling water (optional)
sugar, for glass rims

Stir juices and ice together in a pitcher. Dip damp edge of glasses into sugar, if desired. Pour into glasses and serve.

Cheers :)

Dying for a drink then this easy one will kick off the new year.

So, a Coconut Sparkler:

1/2 cup Innocent apple & elderflower juice
1/2 cup Innocent coconut water
1/2 cup sparkling water
4 fresh mint leaves
Crushed ice

Pour the juice, coconut water and sparkling water into a jug and stir.
Add crushed ice to a Champagne glass and pour the mocktail over.
Garnish with mint leaves or lime.

Cheers :)
