On The Wagon... then in 'ere!

Anyway I'll be dropping in here regularly I hope, to keep the strength going. My worry is my brother is back from Australia soon and loves his beer...we're all going to a hotel for 3 days and I'm not sure I can stay strong in this scenario!

Tell him that any drink he buys you will speed up your liver cancer and that you want to live a bit longer. I'm sure that he'll understand. :p

Good luck and looking forward to seeing you in here again. :)

Still not had a drink since September. Feel awesome.

Bought a half bottle if good red yesterday but couldn't bring myself to open it. Wife confirms that my choice is correct as she's throwing up after a bottle of white and a few gin and tonics last night ha ha moral superiority to me trolololol poke her in the ribs as she's hugging the loo...

Congrats Macca , I've not a had a drink since November. Still feel & look awesome.

Well done guys. :)

Until yesterday evening the last I drank beer was in January (before that it was August)

I had 2 pints of Fosters and I came home feeling quite sick and having a massive headache, not to mention feeling very gassed.

It was one of those moments where I've now decided I am going to give up alcohol all together, it's just not an enjoyment anymore for me and if I can do prolonged periods without alcohol then I think I can cut it out completely.

Wish me luck :)

Should be any problem now, good luck. :)

In for reduced intake!

Only reduced, why not stopped?

I wish I knew, had it explained to me several times and I still have no idea what they're on about. All I know is it shows up on an MRI scan, which I've had 3.

Oh and the ultrasound showed up a fatty liver.

I didn't have a lot of fun in hospital. :(

It's hard to imagine what you've been through, so easy to get used to heavy drinking and not realise or know what damage is being done. I hope that your treatment brings you recovery and good health. All the best and drop in whenever you feel the need for a chat. :)

Hospital again this morning, liver's showing signs of stress but looks Ok.

The consultants advised me that even that my liver's good, he's advised me to stop drinking or things could turn out bad.

That is excellent news and even more reason to stay on the wagon. Life is not worth wasting on drink and if you have an urge to jump off, drop in here and talk about it. :)

Coming up to 4 weeks on Saturday without a drop. I think I am starting to feel much more alert, one thing I have noticed is my memory is far better, in a sense of not having to strain to think straight if that makes sense.

I am 30 and for as long as I can remember I would drink Wed, Fri, Sat and some Sundays. A bottle of wine or maybe 4 pint cans, eclusing any couple of pints down the pub or away on business.

It is amazing how i may fancy a pint but can now quote easily forget the urge, for example I am actually away the night on business...very busy to go.for a pint or wine..instead sparkling water and now typing this in bed ready for an early start tomorrow with gym and sauna.

Getting to the point of just going to continue and see how i get on. I have already decided no more alcohol to be consumed in the house unless necessary on special occasions and maybe only a few beers when out and about, actually drink for enjoyment rather than almost the need!

Well done! :)

It's amazing to see how you both physically and mentally change after stopping when you've been drinking constantly for a number of years.

You've done the hard part now just keep going and you won't even need a drink on special occasions.

Ended up in hospital again, this time with kidney failure. The hallucinations were terrible, I was found unconscious outside my front door lying there in the rain. Quite embarrassing and a major wake up call. :(

Blimey, what a wake up call! Just the thought of that should be a great deterrent to not having another drink. Hope that you're out, recovering at home and good luck. :)

Six weeks without a drink here, i think my longest ever before that was around two and no plans for any in the near future.

13 months and still counting best thing I've ever done , closely followed by not smoking.

11 days booze free now. Got past the shakes/hallucinations and generally feeling dreadful stage, starting to feel more human and sleep is starting to get better.

Determined to stick with it this time.

3 years and counting now, got fed up of the headaches just after 1 or 2 pints

Well done guys! :)
