At 80 I still hope to be cognitive enough to be aware of myself and still posting about the internet...or whatever it is by then.
Its not off at all, my dad has rather severe Dementia and asks where his parents are a lot of the time. Me and Mum etc say " Ohh they are out shopping" or they are on their way etc. Tried to say early on they had died etc but I feel thats cruel saying that over and over again.I think thats the main thing, the OP seems to be very much with it.
My grandma, my only surviving grandparent now is 85/86 I think, but unfotunately she's very much not with it anymore. My uncle (her son) died last year he was 65 I think, we didnt even tell her because it would just confuse and upset her. Which I know seems REALLY off, but honestly I agree with the family decision its the best thing to keep her happy in her current mental state it would just achieve nothing by telling her.
