One hundred pushups

Right I've completed week 3 for pressups, week 5 for situps and squats.

I've couldn't do them tonight so I did them first thing this morning (got up extra early).

I have to say I found day 3 the easiest of the week but the final set still kills me. Wobbly arms after the 28 pressups!

I've also found that getting up an hour earlier and doing some exercise has made me feel a lot more chirpy so far this morning. I'm not sure if that will last the rest of the day but we shall see.

Bring on next week!

finished my first week on push ups, doing column 3, day 2 i managed a max of 14 after the 4 sets, today i managed 22 after the 4 sets. i managed 16 when doin the initial test so a nice improvement already :)

I'm overweight and lazy and probably won't manage more than 2 push ups in the initial test , however I am keen to start exercising again and this seems an ideal morning workout on an empty stomach.

What do you guys think or am I just a hopeless case for this/starting too late?

(thinking of also doing the situps challenge along with this one)

You're not a hopeless case, it's always worth starting doing some exercise as far as I'm concerned. While you might find it difficult initially you will hopefully be buoyed by early progress. It's not a routine that is likely to lead to much in the way of fat-loss unless you also sort out your diet and do some cardio but if you just want to get a bit fitter there is no harm in it. Good luck. :)

I was exceptionally busy last night and it looks like I'm going to be busy every night this week so I might have to continue with this next week.

Repeated week 4 day 1 column 2 after last time I couldn't get the 22 for the second set. This time I did that but only got 24 on the last set (min 25) :(. What is it about 24! I suppose I'll be doing this set again next time now.

Push ups are definitely underrated.

A few years ago when I was at school I used to do 50 in the morning and 50 at night (never touched a gym back then) and people used to comment on my physique quite often.

Week 4, day 1, column 3.

Damn that was hard, only just managed it. Not sure I'm gonna manage day 2 of this week.

Just tried the initial tests and got 96 situps and 52 pressups, I guess that's not a bad result. I will start doing it properly next week after Muay Thai to make it nice and tough.

Did the first day of week 4 last night, I can do the push ups, but need to take a longer rest inbetween sets :(, its too hard with only 60 secs to recover, I may need to repeat this week before I move onto the next one :(

Sit ups are going well though, I'm finding them pretty easy :D

My problem with press ups is that I have very little flexibility in my wrists so I am completely unable to do push ups with my hand flat on the floor.

And I find trying to do them on my knuckles really painful too.

True.

I have however managed the set for week 4, day 1 column 2 now; 27 on last set. I think it helped a lot that I was much more in the mood to do it, often I'm just too lazy :p

You'll get used to doing it on knuckles unless you're especially heavy. Try something soft undeneath if you need, to help spread the load more evenly and protrect your skin. A foam excercise mat is good (keep your feet off of it though), I use my bath mat here, there's a couple of knuckle imprints on it now! Really saves your wrists though, and you're getting a slightly larger range of motion on knuckles :)
