There's a way to unlock the bootloader and root without loosing data I did it.

If rooted try Franco kernel R18 as has updated touch screen drivers and tend to work.

To see if it's a bad earth plug in it's usb cable and try it again.

Just to confirm - just tried the Franco kernel with the touchscreen driver update and it makes a MASSIVE difference - I can now type at regular (quick) speeds without issues.

Excellent news. Hopefully this fix will be in the next OTA.

You'd think so with the amount of people complaining. Just glad I'm able to use it now and not have to wait else i'd probably have sold it.

I have had no issues using r18.

I can type at full speed, I can play any game that requires multi-touch, I can scroll without issue and I get no 'ghost swipes'.

I can now use my phone without fear of the screen having a hissy fit.
