The ID guys confirm what we all suspected. In their own words they say only AMD has "true Async Compute"
Whilst talking about various DX12 technology they mention that "these features are currently only available on AMD chipsets".

Oh and according to them Vulkan is a modern API with roots in AMD Mantle.;)

Watch from 14:30 onwards

To be picky their comment is that AMD has true ASync compute - they aren't commenting on other hardware - it doesn't have bearing on whether anything else has it or not only that AMD has it, while they mention exclusive features it is in context of a selection of features.

Everyone has known for awhile that only AMD has true asynchronousity in the compute queue scheduler.

This is one of the reaons I feel Pascal is a backward facing architecture in comparison to Polaris. DX11 is the past, DX12 is the future and it is clear AMD are better equipped to take advantage of DX12.

Looks like he has had to overcome a lot to get up there and speak publicly none the less I assume English is a second language for him.

I admire those who do it. I did a review of the Oculus Rift and was a bag of nerves and that isn't in front of a live audience and can do take after take (which I did). The more he does it, the easier it will get and confidence will ooze.

Not really news though, everyone knows that :)

You could think a lot of people here dont know how superior AMD are at Dx12.

english my second language to and I have no issues talking to people about various subjects.
I am really awesome though and maybe thats why?

I thought he did well like Ayahuaca stated he is an engineer after all

Now i found this funny not keen on the Linus guy as he kind of bugs me a little...But re when he gets the bag out epic fail but was very comical all-most a Monty python moment...

I proper laughed out loud at that :D

I wonder how well that cooler does though.

I don't think anyone ever argued AMD claimed Mantle lead to DX12 but that's all that's happening in that video an AMD employee claiming it again. Doesn't make it true, have you learned not to believe everything said on stage?

i think this was clear from some time now, nvidia explained that the improvement they made in pascal is related to context switching and better pre-emption, they never claimed hardware implementation.
the war on async will happen first at the studios of game developers, AMD will try to push as many games into async, and nvidia will try to keep devs on dx11 as much as possible.

The new 1070 seems to rival the Fury series on AMD's favourite, Ashes with less theoretical flops etc so doesnt look like its a problem for pascal.

In fact it marginally beats the Fury X in guru's review.

They were using the high preset. Here is the Extreme preset.

Fury X is now only 10% behind the 1080 and Fury Pro is now faster than the 1070. It does look like Nvidia have moved performance on around 10% in DX12. I wonder if there was any difference in drivers used for NV cards.

The Maxwell-based cards employ Nvidia’s newest driver at the time of testing, GeForce Game Ready Driver 365.10. For the GeForce GTX 1080, we had to use the company’s press driver, 368.13.
