Core 2 Duo E6300 OC to 3.5Ghz using auto voltage in bios

Asus P5B

DDR2 1000 at 500Mhz FSB, Timings are at most 5-5-5-15 , 2.1v for max life span and stability.

The whole system run at synchronised speed

I am an industrial and enthusiast overclocker, screen shots and more details is at the following link:

m8 just to let you know, i wouldnt trust that ASUS program to monitor your temps. Use the Intel Thermal Analysis Tool (AKA TAT) that can be downloaded HERE.

TAT is very respected and seems ot be the msot accurate reading of temperature. It reads my cpu as ~10degrees higher than the ASUS one like you are using :)

this guy is now suspended????????

heres a screen shot of my E6400 running @ 3.666MHz.

My memory will not allow me to up the FSB past 1840 i may have to invest in new memory.

I am currently at i30 LAN event and i am winning the intel benchmarking test. 14588 in 3dmark 06

i have a E6400 and 2 x 8800 GTS 320mb

who needs 2 x 8800 gtx and QX6700 :p :p

What max temp do you reach? 3.7ghz on air... must be high temps surely? The screenie above shows orthos during a Large FFT test, I wanna see it during a Small FFT?

Both the tests were done on blend stress which is a lot harder to pass than small or large.
I have done a fair bit of testing on both chips, small, large and blend.
Temps on the 3.7 setting were imo too high for me, looking through the core temp log shows it hit 65c a few times (which is what small test would show also)
So i'm running 3.6GHz now with 1.4750v set in the bios which gives me 58c high peak.

Probably would be worth running it with water cooling but no way i'm going down that route.
Final thought is the newer the chip the cooler it runs, from my limited experience and from what i have read.

posted in another thread screens of my two different chips, incase none of the above made any sense.

Im at 3.4ghz atm and thats on 1.3875v +100mv (so 1.4875v) and that hits 56c. I cannot get to 3.6ghz without uping the vcore to 1.575v and then it runs far too hot. Im on a P5N-E and Artic 7 so that would prob explain it.

3.5ghz runs to 60c/61c max, and thats too much imo, I don't like to get to 60c, so 3.4ghz is the best I can do.

Id be VERY happy if I could get 3.6ghz, so I'd be happy with that if I where you!

Well done!

Got the same problem, from 48C at 3.4Ghz to 56C at 3.5Ghz and then over 60C at 3.6Ghz with my Zalman 9700 (its set to about 2000rpms) its just not worth the extra.

But as I am starting to hate how noisy fans etc are, I'm going to go water cooling and see how that goes :) Its NOT the overall speed increase if anything, its just the silence!! :) Oh and the BFG 8800GTX OC Extreme watercooled card.. Seems like the way to go ;)

Two of many many screenshots of my clocks, I have various benchs and scores, however I can't post them all! But if you have any questions feel free to ask or want to see something in particular just ask. :)
Its on air using AC Freezer 7 Pro.
I could push the CPU maybe a little more I think, but the RAM is whats holding me back now.
I had it running at 3.22Ghz and 920Mhz on the RAM @ 5-5-5-15 100% stable, but I'm testing 3.4 now as I want more!

Just incase my previous post 'does not qualify', here's this one too :D

3800mhz.jpg

Speedfan reads the vcore pretty accurately, it's actually at 1.6625v... and no, this isn't on water cooling, this is just a zalman 9500 w/ MX-1... loads at 65c... crazy temps

The mem will do 1:1 @ 5-5-5-15-2T, but the superPi is lower, thus posting with these results (goes to about 850mhz at those timings, need 2.2v though, not really sure how safe it is to push on the mem voltage though.. they feel damn hot  )

Thats a great Clock mate.

Now, try aiming for 240FSB...

CPU Volts dont really need to be THAT high surely?

My 3500 was at 242FSB and at 1.5v... The 3500 is a Winchester BTW.

It had an 11 Day Prime stable run before I backed it off for common sense reasons.

I tryed believe me i tryed going higher, with both 10 or 11 multis and other settings but my cpu wont budge past 2530. :(

Oh and yeah my volts did need to be 1.525 in bios (1.5 actual in everest). Wouldnt prime stable otherwise. Its 36 idle so.. Im happy enough.
