ONM - MarioKart Wii Review

If you want to look at a specific thing like getting 100% then yes you could say it's challenging but looking at it on the other shoe of just playing the game it is not.

I have got 50 stars at the moment and i'd say the levels now were challenging.

Maybe that's because i'm rubbish though...

There is more chance than i'd like involved, but the better players do win a lot more games than the rest. The other night I was playing with this Japanese guy who consistently kicked ass, and there were some pretty good racers about.

Too much chance, it doesn't seem as bad in online play though. Actually completing the game against the computer is stupid - frequently I'll be half a lap in the lead and get hit by a blue shell, then a red shell, then a pow, then a lightning bolt, then someone will either squash me or hit me whilst invincible starred or I will have slid off the edge because of all the smacking.

Obviously they wanted the less skilled players to stand a chance against the decent people, level the playing field so to speak. But at the moment I hate racing becasue I go from 1st to last with no fault of my own, and don't like winning because a lot of the time its got nothing to do with me being any good.

That's only happened to me 3 or 4 times so far in single player. The vast majority of times I haven't finished in the top 3 has been down to one or more mistakes on my part.

G/f bought this and a Wii today and I have to say it's excellent! Thought the wheel would be a gimmick but it seems to work mega well! Will give the online a try out later.

Hapens very often in SP, not so much in MP.

I saw my GFs brother get hit by 2 blue shells in a row earlier today, obviously the game doesn't like him very much!

I'm loving this at the moment, I had some doubts at first as it seemed very counter intuitive for the controls.
Then I realised I was holding the wheel back to front, after completing the first two races.

Who bothers with instructions for something that simple ;)

lol, Your not the only one :D Took me a while to figure out what way the wii remote went in. I thought the circle cutout was for the D-pad! ;)

I find the Gamecube controller so much easier to play with. Old skool!

this is awesome game :D just hooked up for online play was very simple and is great.well done nintendo.all those that prefer controller over wheel must be crazy its genius.

I initially tried the wheel and loved it.

Then tried the classic pad.. but somehow it just doesnt feel right.

Tried the cube controller briefly.

Tried the Nunchuk/Wii Remote combo and this is where its at.

Can someone clarify what the online "Championship" races are all about?

Also, anyone know if it will be possible to create custom championships? As in a "OcUK Championship" for example?

Also, does anyone know if it is possible to message multiple people in your MK Wii friends list at the same to inform them to be online at a certain day/time etc? Would make it very easy to arrange races with friends.

I added all of the people in the friends thread, only about a 1/3 of them replied the rest have been sitting as question marks for 3 or 4 days now :(
