Ooopps... Suspended!

Quite. I imagine any reason to have someone fired will be looked at as a 'tactical opportunity'.

Yep I can't see any company firing someone for that. Unless they are bad workers or they need to make cuts.

I don't see how you could do unfair dismissal like some people are saying.

Yea, I'll never even touch another human being in a place of work again.

What exactly do I do when I apply for a job and they ask why I left my previous job?!

How long were you there for? If it was a short time then say you went travelling and don't include it.

Oooopps indeed, taking it any further?
Yes I will be at least appealing it. Because I raised the question of what level of physical contact is acceptable and they answered that it's down to the perception of the other person really... So if the other person didn't like it then theres a problem, but in theory the other guy has no problem with it, we're still fine with each other and he admits he doesn't know why he reacted like that.

Usually that doesn't make any difference in most places, if you hit someone even if they don't complain you will be fired.

A jab in jest != assault, the judges in courts aren't complete idiots usually.

it's not a court and it's not assault.

Don't get me wrong it's completely stupid and I expect they saw it as an easy way to cut costs in the current climate. However it was a punch and for most companies that's all which matters. Doesn't matter about complaints or how hard.

A jab in jest != assault and we all know he was fired because they didn't want to make redundancy, the judges in courts aren't complete idiots usually.

The person jabbed "in jest" clearly didn't take it that way since he punched back straight in the chops.

I don't think Skyfall has any chance at it being regarded as an unfair dismissal.
