Opera 9.50 released

Submitted bug report.
Going back to 9.27.

9.50 has crashed 3 times today when I browse while downloading. I never had any problems before.

I've found it to be a bit more reliable.. With 9.27, whenever I opened Gmail, it would crash meaning I had to use IE for Gmail. Seems to be working perfectly now. Have even managed to get used to the new colour scheme and quitelike it now. Still sticking with the old shortcuts though.. Don't know why they changed them all round for the new version!

Edit: Although I have just found a problem.. I use IPCop as my router and it refuses to show the menus at all when logged on. :(

Strange, you're in the minority here, although it could be opera, i suspect its something related...

If you don't like the theme just change it, pretty standard afair, i hate the new theme tbh, windows native for me :D

They changed the shortcut keys to defaults that work across all platforms. Although you wouldn't notice in windows a lot of the shortcut keys are system wide shortcuts in some of the many linux distributions, and macs it runs on. So default shortcuts all need two command buttons plus key now, unless you change them back. This stops loads of hassle across the board :) Shortcut are very easy to add and change anyway.

I did switch it back to the classic skin on my main PC, but left it as the new skin on my laptop today and have got used to it and quite like it. Might change it back on my PC when I get back from work!

I haven't had any problems with the old shortcuts in Ubuntu. :)

I used to love Opera but the past few releases just haven't been what I had hoped, now I'm back to being a FF lover.

FOr shortcuts the way your used to them in 9.2x go to shortcuts in preferences and tick one key shortcuts and highlight opera 9.2 compatible. All back to normal after that :)

To stop the transfer window popping into focus all the time open the transfer window check view on the transfer toolbar and check open in background (or not at all if you wish).

Just spotted that - thanks very much :)

Installed this last night, I think it's great so far but, does anyone know how to move the address bar above the tabs bar, like in IE. Can this be done?

Also, I'm wondering if I make it open my hompage when I click the new tab button rather than the speed dial page?

I've gone through the settings several times but can't see anything, any help appreciated.

I have to say i've been an IE7 fan for day to day stuff for a while and then FF tempted me back with the recent betas/RCs.

Having said that I'm incredably impressed with Opera 9.5 and it's taken over residence as primary browser on my machines. So far it seems to have the compatabilities of IE mixed with the extensibility of FF.

A really nice piece of s/w. I have a feeling it's got one over FF this time. Be interesting to see how IE8 pans out later in the year as well.

What the hell *do* you want!? Its only got better, the nightlies where up and down with a few website problems and niggles but thats to be expected, hence the term nightlies... Apart from this, this is by far the fastest best browser they've ever pushed out, and thats quite an achievement on the back of the 9 recode/release.

If you open the appearence window and have a play around you can move toolbars and change everything appearence related there :) If you need specific instuctions just ask.

Also guys if you use a download manager (which i do, free download manager) i suggest oGet for integrating it properly.

If you want spell check (which i really wish they'd ****ing add!) see here.

Just given the new skin a second chance. And I've got to say I'm loving it at the moment. Still a few things I need to get used to but overall I'm pretty impressed.

If anyone else changed back to the 9.2 skin straight away, I'd recommend giving it a chance for a day or two to see what you think. Especially if you're running Vista.

I am really torn now, I have been using a skin called mirage for some time, but I also really like this new one, can't decide which to use now!

I like the fact you can increase the number of speed dials in this version.

Ooh do tell...I can't find how to do this?

I always open up three sessions at a time, this would be a slight variation..though not sure if this would be useful. Having tabs open straight away keeps the different webpages I use visible at the top of my browser screen straight away..

I've got 24 going on mine. Good view on a 24" w/s monitor.

Go into your opera profile directory. (I'm sure you know but to check where that is, help\about opera). Open up speeddial.ini with notepad or similar and add the following at the end of the text, replacing the 4 and 6 with what you fancy:

[Size]
Rows=4
Columns=6

Then save the file and restart opera.
Enjoy more speed dials!
:)

Ha - good tip fella - thanks!

Edit - sorry, where is this file? I can't find anything under then name of speedial.ini (Vista 32).

Are you not using Opera 9.50?
If you were doing a search, it's speeddial.ini rather than speedial.ini. It should be in your opera\profile directory.
