opera mini submited to app store

Nah, not pleased with it - speeds are good and I'm glad they made it and it got approvaed but iI'll stick with safari.

In a sense, it makes you appreciate Safari more, having something to compare it to. I know a lot of people criticise the App store for it's approval process, but I wonder if, had it not been for the criticism and Opera's public announcement of this, Apple would have refused it based on lack of quality - especially when measured against a native app.

Hmm seems to load faster on 3g than safari does for me, also it feels a bit nicer to browse full size pages on, I really don't enjoy attempting that on safari but it's ok on this, pinch zoom needs a bit of tweaking and it loads up very slowly to begin with.

Im bemused as to why people are finding it clunky, slow, ect;
Whilst it does have a few flaws, for a rev1, its very good. The GUIs fast, intuitive, loads quite fast from the home screen, pages load far quicker, ect;

Well I have had to post this on my PC as I created three threads and although I clicked "Post quick reply" the post was never input on OCUK :(

I find selecting text quite difficult, very hard to copy.

Also is there a text correction option? I REALLY miss this. As someone with big fingers I often press the wrong word accidentily.

The scrolling needs some work.

When scrolling up and down a page, it should clamp down on inadvertent left/right scrolling because you usually don't mean to.

It needs the all-important elastic bounce when you try to scroll off the edge of the view :)

I've been using this today, and I've gotta say over EDGE it really is good.

Page rendering is dodgy sometimes, the zoom can be annoying in certain situations and occasionally the tabs need more than one tap to realise I'm trying to close it but for just grabbing some news while you're out an about I like it a lot.

Using it at the moment, it's got a few problems with iPlayer and youtube. Usually if you click on the video, it'll open in default player.. but nothing happens in Opera.

Either way, I've synced it to my desktop computer so I can view my bookmarks etc wherever I am :)

Little bit of a blast from the past here, but I noticed there was a fairly substantial update for Opera Mini on the app store.

I've got to say, I'm now really liking Opera and thinking about switching from Safari. It's a lot faster, they've fixed the zooming issues and overall it just feels zippier.

Anyone else tried it lately?
