Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising

I don't think I've played any game on my PC more than Operation Flashpoint. I clocked up 100s of hours just playing the Single player game over and over..

If this game is even close to being as awesome as the original then I'm buying a new games console (I sold my Xbox 360 and PS3 recently due to lack of interest).

Please tell me it's something special.. :p

Just remember that the original flashpoint, my fav game of all time, was made by Bohemia. Bohemia have nothing to do with Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising. Regardless of how good (or not so good) this game turns out to be, Arma 2 is without a doubt more comparable to the first flashpoint game and is essentially the real sequel. From what I am seeing, Dragon Rising is going to be a far different sort of experience.

Yep you're right....for fans wanting more of the original they need to seek out arma 2. Arma 2 = Open ended military sim. OFP: DR = Infantry focused FPS experience.

Did he really just shoot that chopper down with a well placed shot from a Dragunov? I WANT THIS NOW!!!!

I believe it was a shot from a shoulder mounted rocket launcher of some kind and not a sniper rifle.

It is possible to down a chopper with a sniper rifle though if you are skilled enough to take out the pilot :)

cant bloody wait. like zensuji im in my 30s and will be teaming with a friend the same age, shame were on dif platforms otherwise we could have hooked up (grr wheres cross-platform gaming). couldnt persuade my mate to get a pc (yet) so ill just pick up a ps3 on tuesday. OFP2 looks like a game were really going to enjoy :) (both obssessed with shooters since doom :D) though im abit skeptical about the bots. if they spaz out or hinder me ill cap 'em myself.

Well im glad the press are giving it good scores, but to be honest even if they were to give low scores i would still be keeping my pre-order, the videos of it just look to good for it be naff!

Having just had a look at the full weapons list, there are more rocket launchers than there are assault rifles? Haha whats the crack with that? Also wondering if the SMG's are even worth putting in? I can't see them having much use at all. No harm in it i suppose :)

Yeah totally....I was actually expecting more around the 70% marks for reviews just because the game is a bit of a break from the norm.

To be honest i think if a really good mod came out it would expand the player base an incredibile amount. I like the looks of the game etc but i was hoping it would be more like tom clancys ravenshield. Yeah i never played the original ofp :P

Obviously, RavenShield was more about indoor cqb and counter terrorist operations. Dragon Rising is mostly an outdoor, long range, mil silm. However, I have seen vids of building breaches and house to house clearance stuff. You might be surprised. It is such a shame though that a full Tom Clancy Rainbow Six game for PC hasn't come around since Raven Shield. Vegas was good but such a consolised product.
