Ordered my New Setup!

He has slept (sacrilege) before overclock the CPU. (damn against this forum membership requirements) :D
even with PB2 i'm only getting 4.2Ghz on all cores.. hardly worth it over 4.1ghz im getting without it on. And pB" is pulling 1.55V vs 1.3V

ASUS is very generous with the PBO power. You need to use offsets.
With PBO the 2990WX can do 4.3 on all core at less than 1.5v
All core 4.3 is usually at 1.35 with the Gigabyte one

still installing stuff atm re-instating my vm's :) + 2Tb of games to download

Me too and it would be wasted on me as a gaming machine hehe.

Though you can play games with 1 8 core section & 1 GPU and having the rest 3 GPUs and 8 core section doing AI work :p
While running NVME raid with M.2s at full speed :p

Sound mega,
My pc is purely for gaming and browsing ocuk, think 32 cores would be overkill and also redundent. Makes me wonder if future games will make use of high number of cores and not worry so much about the speed.

X4, as X:R did, going to support up to 32 cores :D

Do you think threadripper will end up more future proof in the end compared to what's out now.
Look future proofing is bit vague and doesn't apply in general for everything.

However given the platform as a whole, and the new stuff like Dynamic mode coming up, is pretty stable platform for quite some time.
Especially on productivity/workstation role, the current setup will last quite some some.
And given the curent pricing, I wouldn't be surprised if someone could get second hand 2990WX for £800. Already there were some on the bay for £920 this week.

@Panos

i know somone in here wanted benchmarks.
Realbench - still tweaking Fan Speeds
