Origin Account Comprimised - How to recover it?

Mine it seems has been done too. Cannot log in and email request to send password is not coming to me.

Loving EA's security.

really wierd bit is i've heard nothing back from EA and (fingers crossed/touched wood) i'm still using the new account so either the muppet that had the account has been busy getting ready for xmas or he's give it up now he's been found out.

just amazed that he would put PAID for games on the account if that was the case

I only have 2 games and a bit of old DLC on my account, but it's still worrying that someone can get in, seemingly without too much initial info.

Same happened to me a few months ago. had to call tech support to get access back. They guessed my security question in order to get access.

I think the hackers have or had a way to trace where players on servers are connecting from, or possibly from the blizzard forum. Then go 'forgot password?' on logins for these peoples accounts and hope that 'city of birth' is the security question. Something along those lines, that's my theory anyway

EDIT :: errr yeah it was BattleNet not Origin in my case

Has there been any kind of official story/statement on this?

It seems to be happening A LOT. More than enough that would warrant a formal investigation surely?

I had exactly the same email at about 4pm today. I've never logged into origin anywhere but my home pc and I haven't even logged in there for about 2 months.

You'll need to call EA on 0870 243 2435. I tried earlier but was kept on hold for 20+ minutes and gave up. They're open 9am-9pm so maybe give them a ring in the morning? I'll be doing the same.

Fingers crossed for the pair of us.

Just a wee bump in case anyone else has any problems - this happened to me about an hour ago and I got it resolved via the number above.

main problem raised on the ea forums is that they seem to accept its your account if you can give the right birthday, so if someone hacks your account they have that info, the fact there IP places them in a totally different country to the one registered etc means nothing to them.

same goes for security questions, they change them so you have no chance of getting them right.
