No point in doing that at all. Unless of course your are with a team mate who agrees to not tech up and churn out basic units to help defend.

Does the resource sharing work? I have asked for more minerals a couple of times from teammates and didnt get any

You can share but its disabled for the first few minutes but after that you can share as much as you want and even grant allies control of your units (movement only). I think it was done to stop players feeding each other and rushing.

You'd get thrashed. In 2v2 you will always want to go low tech pressure early on. The team that doesn't invariably loses.
